Camaro and the Super Bowl

I was think about this earlier...It would be a great opportunity to expose the Camaro to millions of potential customers. Show it in a commercial and set up a poll at Chevy.com to see what people think.

I have a feeling that the camaro will turn out like the Solstice. All this "hype" so early, and people are going to be board with it by the time it comes out in 2 years.

Do you REALLY think people are bored about the Solstice? Get real...seriously. With all due respect, I have people from all over coming to look at my Solstices in stock. That car is doing us wonders...

Re: Camaro and the Super Bowl

I seriously doubt you will see anything about the Camaro b/c the money wouldn't be worth it b/c what they are looking at isn't the production model. I do expect however we might see something in '08 commercial wise...

Re: Camaro and the Super Bowl

would be interesting to see what kind of response the poll would get. But that would be a VERY expensive way for Chevy to poll the public considering the cost of a 30 second commercial in the Super Bowl.

Re: Camaro and the Super Bowl

There isn't the slightest chance of it ever happening...especially a week from now. Also, people don't just get bored with cars......if someone wasnts a car just because there is too much hype about it early doesn't mean noone is going to care then.. just look at us for examples.

Re: Camaro and the Super Bowl

I don't think it would be in GM's best financial interest to have commercials in the Super Bowl. I don't think they can afford the $2.4 million it costs per 30 seconds. Plus it is at least a year too early.

That would make no sense to show a commercial about a concept.

Re: Camaro and the Super Bowl

I agree, right now its only a concept. However when production dates are set, it would be a great way to get the word out. I really liked Ford's Mustang convertable commercial last year. Perfect way to advertise the new model.

They were great. Especially the one where the XLR-V backs up into the tunnel and then comes blasting out of it.

I think you missed the thread about Sosltice outselling the Miata (MX-5?)...

People must be bored of it

No one in their right mind is going to spend the millions of dollars per second it costs during the Super Bowl on a concept that won't be out for another 2 years.

Not being gruff or anything, but if you gave me a annual advertising budget, and I wanted 1 or 2 ads in the Super Bowl that would get the most mileage, I'd spend it on any new models just hiting the streets or to keep momemtum going on a hot selling model, which is exactly what GM did with the Escalade commercial, and Ford did with the Escape Hybrid and the Mustang.

There's plenty of feedback at autoshows and e-mail for free without tosssing roughly the equivalent of the entire development budget for the Solstice, or the Ford GT and Viper combined (no.... I'm not exagerating. ) on a 60 second Super Bowl ad.
