Camaro "thoughts" at Portland.....

I agree with you. Granted, wheels can make a world of difference to a car's appearance. The bas 5th Gen Camaro is a truly great value and good looking piece.
It's a real steal at it's price point. The D.I. 3.6 included with a $22.995K package with a six speed manual trans is a very nice combo, IMO.

I was afraid of this happening. Oh well to each their own.

No, he was talking about the rear fender ones. The question came up at one of the presentations on why the vents weren't functional. Tom gave a number of good reasons why they weren't. Then he added, that on a possible Z/28 model, functional rear brake cooling scoops could be done , similar to the Z06's.
BTW, he was probably talking in more than just theoretical terms, since the Z/28's bodywork is already done, and has been for some time now. (I'd add the winky smilie here, but I'm just so damned tired of it being used like that already).
Whether we'll ever see a Z/28 though, is an entirely different question.

Not a Camaro site but GM centric none the less. I expected some less than positive responses but not to the extent I witnessed. I guess there are enough naysayers here though so i shouldn't have been surprised. Look at the number of people that would choose a Challenger over a 5th gen in the Auto news section of this site.

I got flamed in November when I mentioned that I talked to the body panel engineer on the Camaro and Z/28 in the Orlando airport. He told me that it had a different hood that was like Bumblebee 2. Like the old stinger hood from the 60's among other things. He was saying some really good things about it but the suits pulled the plug due to funding and not cafe? It was supposed to be a supercharged V8 to compete with the GT500 and he said it handled like it was on rails.
That is my 2 cents. Anyone want to take back the flames now?

I just hope the wife ends up approving the purchase when it comes around. my 95 isn't going to last forever after all.

if for some reason they dont make the z28, they need to leak those photos or drawings. that would be sweet to see. i would be all over a hi- po camaro.....if it were released at the launch. but since it wasnt and isnt, i went with the ss.

exactly what I was thinking needs to be done and it's what I will attempt to replicate if I get one. If it's just crome and paint that makes it really easy. I too did some net searching and found that it was just the 69's (maybe a couple of the 70's not sure) that had this trim.
