So basically GM decided to ditch the Z28 name and went with ZL1 instead? That's kind of depressing to me, I wanted to see that car with Z28 badges. The Z28 being the top dog and making Cobras its b!tch would have been nice. Instead, now it'll just be some special edition car.

Who says the Z28 can't be above and beyond the ZL1...?

Well this car was going to be the new Z28. This car will also probably cost as much as a new Vette which will probably also mean it'll be the top model of the Camaro (a.k.a. no Z28). I highly doubt GM will release an even higher powered Z28 model that would cost more than a ZL1 or Vette. If you don't need 4 seats, the Vette is the better buy IMO just because of the weight factor.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, it looks like GM killed the Z28 name as of now. That makes me sad, I was hoping to be able to buy a new Z28 in eventually. It know it might still happen in the future, but still......

Exactly - A 4000# Camaro with the supercharged Caddy engine isn't even distantly related to the original Z28 and there was some criticizm towards GM for calling this car a Z28, so at least they listened for once. Also with the ZL1 name, maybe they feel they can charge more for what the car is going to cost since the original ZL1s were almost twice what a base Camaro was back in '69.

I was in the webcast today with chevys chief engineer and I asked him about the z28 and he said and I quote "the ZL1 is not the Z28, I can only say just stay tuned" to me that means they still have plans for a Z28....

Hints have already been dropped by people at GM regarding that too.

The fogs look "autozone" tacky. I liked the rectangular look better.

Re: Camaro ZL-1

This car will be an instant classic. ZL1 was the right name to use. The 6th gen probably won't have a supercharged V8 or a 550HP+ version. The name is right for a monster power 5th gen Camaro.

Z28 would be better on a Boss 302 type of car.
