Exclamation Camaro ZL1 Allocation is available to dealers, DISAPPOINTING, at best!

After talking to several dealers, the New 2012 Camaro ZL1 allocation is disappointing at best - it it FAR less than anyone had anticipated for the start up.....

For those buying from other dealers, be prepared to see some of the HIGHEST markups we've seen to date on the Camaro!

I am not surprised. With the comments that were similar to "this car will not be for everyone"

Out of curiosity, how many dealers are there in the US?

Well, thats not too far off the number of Shelbys made in '11 (5500, some still sitting on dealer lots), and 3900 '12's so far. If they sell well maybe GM will up production.

EDIT: I just realized that this is the wrong thread. The original question was in response to the news that allocations were less than total number of dealers in the other thread... My bad.

I thought that there were somewhere in 2000's now after they closed a bunch of GM dealerships, including Chevy. I could be wrong, but I thought it was now somewhere in that neighborhood.

You have to remember that the ZL1 is slated for production sometime early next year (Jan/Feb) as a 2012 model, which means the '12 ZL1 will basically be built only half the model year. Unlike the '10 model year which started in March '09 and ran to June '10.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. I deal with the Ford/Shelby stuff so much I have their scheduling stuck in my head.

I think GM stated that a full model year would produce around 5,000 or so ZL1s, so it sounds about right. That is pretty much on par to the Corvette Z06 numbers.

This is precisely why I am not that excited about the ZL1. It is going to be such a limited car and pretty expensive to begin with without the crazy dealer markups. It's not like I will be able to afford one .
