From the same article:
"A few GM higher ups have stated that the General will start making Camaros in late 2008. That's true, but, a little misleading. Salable, pilot build, Camaros will be the cars rolling down the line in late 2008. This run of cars will be given to engineers, execs and managers to drive for some fast feedback on any last minute changes that might need to be made to the car or the production process. This production run will not be available to the general public to buy."
" Circle Monday, February 16, 2009 on your calendar as the date the new 2010 Camaros will start heading down the production line at the Oshawa plant in Ontario.
In actuality, this means it will more than likely be mid-March before you'll be able to put your hands on one at a dealership."

PRODUCTION cars are going to be rolling down the line in SEPTEMBER. These are the cars that will be given to some higher-ups to drive around and try out (make sure the line is building the cars right). OCTOBER is when salable, production cars will be built .
So there are going to be ~4 months' worth of Camaros sitting around, waiting for Feb. 16th!!!

My brother was given some bad news tonight, his 1995 Camaro is terminally ill. His car is a 3.4 V6 5speed. Well anyway the mechanic told him the car was not worth the parts that it needs to repair it and sooner or later it will stop running, it needs a EGR, a crank sensor and two other things that I cant remember along with a possible short in a wire that must have rubbed down to bare metal. The Camaro has been a great car for him for the past 8 years and 160k.
So he would like to replace his 95 with a new V6 manual tranny Camaro. The problem is he doesn’t know if his will make it long enough. I hope you guys are right and he can get one in Feb. or Mar. If GM can get this car out fast enough they have one guaranteed sale.

Local dealership in my town, which is one of the largest Camaro/Corvette dealers, swears up and down they will have a Camaro in their showroom this fall/winter. They also host all of our Camaro Club meetings.

I would think if they have one in the showroom before 2009, they won't be able to sell it. There are delivery date limitations on calling a vehicle a certain model year... The new Camaro will start as a 2010 model year vehicle. I don't believe it could be delivered in 2008 and meet the guidelines... YMMV.

Unless they are talking about a non-salable car, well, then they could have one as early as ~September (except it would be a display/demo only, not-for-sale).
Fact of the matter is, the plant will only begin full-scale production in October, and from everything I understand, they aren't releasing any of the cars for sale until A) there is a large enough inventory to satisfy (some of) the demand, and B) ~mid-February!
