So that you have some guy on the assembly line who's job is to install this aftermarket part.
Would that be a feasible loophole?
not a feasible loophole.

Well, at least I got part of it right. They were listing to noises and dB levles while looking at graphs on that computer there from internal and external, just not with Camaro.
My question is, will the exhaust just sound good for V8 trims and up, or will there be attention to the V6 as well? Maybe a VQ-esque sounding exhaust for the V6 owners?

either way, WAY TO GO CAMARO TEAM!!

Did that law pass in '96? I know my 94 Z28 had 1st gear as an option. I remember the 1st time I heard my old camaro rev when it was stock. I was impressed! But then again I had just started getting into the cars. Then I started going to a Camaro club meetings and well, it was all over. Ended up with Headers, !cat, cutout and a Corsa. LOL

Jonathan -- send me your mailing address along with a telephone number -- and when I return to Detroit next week, I'll get that poster out to you!

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!! I will email you my info as soon as I can...

And a Corsa is probably what's gonna go in the 5th Gen my wife and I end up getting. Of course depends on how it ends up sounding with it.. but the stock exhaust is gonna stay there for a while. So keep working hard on those details.

Cars that had 2.73's had 1st gear blocked at the shifter mechanism by a plastic tab....nothing a hack saw blade couldn't fix after you popped up the shifter console cover . Not sure what year the law started, but my 95 Z28 had 1st gear blocked.

Real easy way to tell what rear gears an LT1 auto trans F-Body had without knowing the RPO codes was by the shift indicator:
3.23's had "P R N (D) D 2 1"
2.73's had "P R N (D) D L", or was it "P R N (D) D 2" ?...not sure, it's been more than 6 years.

That's the way I remeber it too. 2.73 cars didn't have the #1 gear selection but it was there. That was always an easy way to tell if the car had 2.73's or 3.23's when looking in the window.

So I take it the 2.73 geared LT-1 F-bodies were too loud in first gear??

Well- Its a good thing I didnt get my guess in- I woud have been wayyyyyyy off!!

I was going to guess that someone had pulled the old Ex-Lax brownie practical joke on Bob Lutz- and everyone was watching and listening to the secretly taped results of said gastro-landslide inducing fudgie treat!

Baxk in the day it was explained that they had to go through a trap at a certian speed (like 45mph). But the 2.73 cars would go to first gear, putting the motor at full song! So with no selectable first gear, it could legally go through the sound trap in 2nd

Huh, my "guess" was going to be you guys were on a conference call with the board of directors, asking for more money for the project, and (based on the smiles in the room) got approved!

..... oh, but if you really DO have to ask for more money for the project, please don't take it out on us! (the consumer) ..... we all agree that if the car is built well, and priced right in the first place, it'll sell well enough to recover all of these development costs, right??

I'll be looking at Magnaflow myself, but the factory pieces keep getting better, and real gains in power get harder to realize...so we'll wait-n-see.
