Forgive me if someone has already submitted this one, but:
Will the introduction of the new Camaro and Challenger, combined with the Mustang, win over the hearts-and-minds of any of the brainwashed ricer crowd?

If they can put bling bling rims on it, put on huge fart can exhausts, attach a 747 wing to the back, put big stereos in it, coat the underbody with gaudy lights, cover it with obscene vehicle graphics, add "NAWS" and fit a Sony Playstation 3 in the dash, all for a cheaper price than mommy's honda civic, my answer would be maybe.

Nope. I really wish that this new wave of great Muscle Cars would sway the minds of the import crowd, but im afraid it will not. As for the Nissan 350z, Supra and S2000 crowd nope again. The Camaro,Mustang and Challenger are going to be awesome cars.

No, I don't believe they will...But who really cares about the "ricers"? The concern should be whether they will be able to win over the performance minded enthusiasts who will likely be buying STI's/EVO's...

Okay, here it is, straight from the horses mouth. I think the reintroduction of the pony car wars will definately win over some of the "ricer crowd"
I don't know exactly what the modern definition of the ricer crowd is. Especially considering the quarter mile times that the Evo, Sti, SRT4, and SS/SC are getting. All of these cars have huge wings and body kits, but they also get put down great times for there price.
I think the real question is "Will the Camaro's bang for buck performance exceed that of the forced induction four cylinder crowd?"
I think the answer is a definite yes. Lets just hope GM not only focuses on getting that horsepower up, but also on getting that price down.

No. F-bods and Mustangs were/are around when they became import fans. Different sheetmetal will not change what attracted them to sport compacts in the first place. Plus, how many "ricers" do you know can throw down 25-30 grand for a new pony car?

I'm really not sure how you define a "Ricer" anymore. Anyway, I find that alot of people are simply "car enthusiasts", who buy the best performance product, which meets their needs.
If the Camaro turns out to be that product, and starts winning respect within the general enthusiast populace - then to answer the original question, yes.

I believe a Mustang is ruling the "Drifting" scene, that's gotta make an impact.
I believe once they begin dominating the streets again, it'll win back plenty.
Especially if the aftermarket keeps up as they have done for the Imports...kids today want to make their cars more unique than ever, so power can't be the "only" focus..
But there'll always be plenty who like the "Go-Kart" feel of a compact with an open exhaust going through the gears...for them, there's the Cobalt, G5 or Solstice etc..
