Could the 6th Gen Camaro Be Based Off the 2nd Gen?

Re: Could the 6th Gen Camaro Be Based Off the 2nd Gen?
For one its pretty obvious the artist started with a 5th gen Camaro as the base for his photoshop. Here's why in my opinion the design does not work for a 6th gen Camaro:
1. Nose and headlights are too retro. Perhaps adding a bit more 4th gen or Code 130R to the nose would help make it look more modern.
2. The current rear quarter windows are not going away. Sure they don't open and are rather small, however they add light in which helps with visibility on a car that already has poor rearward visibility and a pretty bad blind spot.
3. GM has hit a home run with the 5th gen. Even if they move the 6th gen over to the Alpha platform and try to modernize the design slightly, they would be foolish to change the design too much, especially when they're doing so well on sales of the current model. (See my post on the 130R and why I don't think it would make a good Camaro stylistically if you want more reasons.)
Its a good artistic attempt at a modern 2nd gen, but not my cup of tea.

I like it, but the 5th gen should continue for a while yet. 1st gens were awesome, but too short lived for such a loved body style. Let's not make the same mistake twice.

Do The Math!
1st gen = 5th gen .
2nd gen =6th gen ?
3rd gen = 7th gen ?
4th gen = 8th gen !
I can't wait for the 8th gen,my 4th gen will look brand new!

We talked about this and offered our thoughts in CamaroZ28.Com Podcast #337:

god lets hope it doesnt look like that. it looks horrible. i think they need to get away from the retro look now. it worked great with one of the best looking cars of all time( 69 camaro) but i dont think their going to get the crowd reaction with a 2nd gen look, like they did the current look.

I love the 2nd gens but, I think moving in this direction would be a mistake. I would like to see a fresh design that says Camaro. I would also like to see the car shrink in proportions. I want to see the Cadillac ATS in person. I think that platform would make a perfect starting point.

This has definitely generated some interesting response.
I think it looks interesting and is a contender, but definitely needs some "reality massaging". This should be a given, since it is just a Photoshop job.
Chris Frezza said no way. He was pretty clear about it in our Podcast:

They seem mixed here in this thread.
But when our friends over at LSXtv picked up on it...the responses are largely very positive. Check out the comments here:

I think is is similar to the companies building the 77-78 Trans Am nose and taillights on the current Camaro platform. the dimensions are wrong for a second gen style. It needs to be streched out more to get the correct dimensions. while I like the 2nd gens ( I have a 72) it just does not work out for the best. I do think that tweaking the current platform should be the best option, but if it changes platforms, then all of this goes out the window!!
