Read the following article from Variety about the re-launch of Knight Rider. Will GM become involved?

My God I hope not. Knight Rider was a great 80's car show. Those kind of shows don't work/aren't popular today. Plus it was cheesy.

I disagree. The show could become immensely popular if done right.

Hmmm, I heard that argument somewhere before... Oh yeah, about Transformers! If they do it right, I think its a great idea.

GM better get in on this.....even if it flops, more of a keep the best player from going to another team in your division type thing.

Might as well bring back the Firebird while they're at it

But only if David Hasselhoff is not involved.

I'm torn on this. Reading the article, it sounds like they intend it to be more of a rip-off of Transformers with K.I.T.T. and his driver playing the good in the good v. evil roles.

Some reformatted TV serieses from the past need to stay dead rather than be resurrected.

No Camaro, and no Firebird. The car wasn't a concrete decision last I heard (somewhat inside information), but they had 2 or 3 in mind.

How well did the 3rd gen Firebirds sell from 1984-1987? Anyone have any stats?

And when was the return of an old show or movie been better?

Dukes, Starsky and Hutch, Etc were all worse than the originals. I was glad to hear that Hal Needham said he never wants Smokey and the Bandit to be remade as it never would be better than it was. The Bandit series that was not short enough lived was bad enoughas was part 2-3 movies.

I hated the original K.I.T.T. and I still own a Black 80's Pontiac today. I don't see a great need for a new one.

One thing for sure is if they would bring back the original star they would have to have a blow tube to see if he is below the legal limit.

Great point.

It's been 20 years since the show was on TV. Between the advances in special effects since then, and the unlikelihood of a 25 years older David Hasselhoff reprising the role. With or without "Members Only" leather jackets.

Miami Vice Total US Gross: $63,437,595

Transformers Total US Gross: $313,588,051

Dukes of Hazard Total US Gross: $80,270,227

Hmm, considering these car related movies based on 80s TV shows, I think there is a good chance that Night Rider could be brought back!
