Delivered Camaros

What is the deal? I would have thought someone on this site would have taken delivery of their Camaro by now. The wait is killing me! I am still waiting for my local Chevy dealer to get one.

The local dealer here said they will have 3 in by May 1-2 and one is a V6 for display purposes the other two are pre-ordered SS's. It can't be long now.

BTW I know Rick Hendrick has his two already!

Why GM on the brink Bankruptcy?

Why GM is in Bankruptcy? They are too slow to change. How long has the new Mustang been out? How about the Challenger? Heck they could have been kicking Ford's butt 4 years ago! Why is GM always last to get their stuff out? The SSR took 4 years to get out and then was WAY overpriced and most of the excitement had fizzled. What is the hold up? The dealers are screaming for the cars, the potential owners are screaming for the cars. HOLY COW!

Show me the cars!

Don't worry people, the Camaros are on their way!!!! In the past week from my vantage point at work, our cafeteria faces the 401 highway, I have personally seen 4 car haulers taking them to their destinations! What a sweet sight. Me and a buddy of mine, we keep an eye out between 6 - 7pm and when we do see a hauler we hoot and holler and high five each other!! Our co-workers think we are nuts, little do they know we are passionate about Camaros!

Something tells me May 6th is going to be the day for customer deliveries. I just got a email from my local dealer asking for me to bring my 4th Gen Camaro to display on this date while they show off the 5th gen and I’ve seen multiple posts where dealers are saying they will “Officially" unveil the 5th gen that day, so they are probably parlaying customer deliveries into this same date.

I agree with you that it seems to take a long time before Gm gets their vehicles from concept to production, but there are a few things you really should take into account for this new Camaro. The new Camaro is a completely new vehicle! Yeah sure the plateform was used for other vehicles, but they changed the plateform dimensions and they designed a whole new body and interior, all of which take time to do. Then it all has to be tested to make sure it passes the safety standards.

I don't know much about the Mustang, weather or not the chassis plateform is completely new or not, so I won't say anything about that one. However, the Challenger, all Chrysler had to due was design a new body. The plateform is the same as the 300 and the Charger, which have been out for a long time. The interior of the Challenger is basically the same as the Charger. So the car so t speak was almost completely there when they brought it out as a concept. Not hard to get that into production quick if you have 2/3 of the car already done.

There has been some talk about an "official" unveiling the first week of May, but cars are reported to be shipping now. It wouldn't be wise for a dealer to hold someone's car for several weeks.

I agree with you that it wouldn't be wise for the dealer to hold someone's car for several weeks, by the same tolken, they have been shipping customer sold orders for over a week now and nobody that we know of has theirs yet. Also, the car is property of Chevy untill the paperwork and financing is complete so technically they really are holding their own car.

GM has held cars at the rail yards before. Not for this reason, but they have done it.

I chatted with my dealership yesterday and he seems to think that gm is probably going to hold the first batch until they get a descent amount and then release them. He said that is how they did it with the Equinox. He said they shipped them to detroit first and held them there. He is just guessing though.

I live 5 miles from a large auto rail yard. pretty much any car going to a dea;er in NC or southern VA comes into this yard. I rode by it the other day and didn't see any camaros sitting in the lot. Though I couldn't see all the cars. My local dealer said they are getting one for display april 14th. All 10 of there first allotment are sold at MSRP. As soon as I see some camaros at the rail yard, I'll post it on here
