Detailed multipoint survey of pros and cons?
First... the leaked R&T image depicts a car that is much better looking than I thought we would see.
That said I wish we had a way on this formum where we could have a detailed 100+ point survey that maybe GM would collate and read at some time in the future... Some way for people to vote on what they don't like or like about the concept after detroit is done. It needs to be multiple choice or yes/no survey or something with pre-set choices because too many people will just say, eh it sux or yeah it's great without being constructive. I don't suppose the BBS software supports anything like this though? Polls are good too but you'd need a lot of them all on one page or something. Eh well, just a crazy idea I guess.
What I like from that R&T image:
- Stance.
- Camaro-faithful proportions.
- Rake of the windshield and shape of greenhouse.
- Overall Front facia styling - headlights could be mite bigger but I'm glad theyre not wrap around effors.
- Width of fenders and width of track.
- Overall it looks rather aggressive yet also somewhat refined and even classy. Definately will shut up the tools that like to bring up mullets everytime you tell them you have a Camaro .
Dislike:
- Greenhouse is too low / beltlne a couple of inches too high. - I gather this has to do with crash safety - the Mustang, Challenger and now this concept all suffer from it. GM's hands may be tied here? This is a minor quibble to be honest.
- Rear fender creases FAR to much like the Caddy roadster, could they be softened slightly or would that look bad?
- Wheels are ugly, but that's just me - In that respect I'm narrow minded and like simple 5 spoke designs. Nothing the aftermarket can't fix though, but I'd rather not have to spend over $1000 on wheels I'm happy with after shelling out 28-30 large for the car.
- Egg crate grill will be a PITA to clean: it'll get full of dead bugs squished into the recesses and corners at highway speeds.
I haven't seen the rear yet... guess I'll have to wait another couple of days but hopefully it jives with everything else I've seen in that single picture.
Overall - a big thumbs up to all involved in making this concept happen!

I also believe it has to do with roof crush standards.

i agree with Z28Marcus' critique of the car. overall i like it alot.
one othert hign i'd like to add is i'm not really liking the slit in the front before the hood. perdsonally, i think it'd look much cleaner without it there.

Can anyone make out the emblem on the lower front fender?

Re: Detailed multipoint survey of pros and cons?
The chopped roofline was generally considered desirable I thought, I certainly like it. Makes it look more like a sports/pony/whatever car, stands out from a boring family car...
I am frankly worried the production model will just get a magically taller greenhouse which may throw off the looks of the car. I was equating that chopped look to a very concept-ish look that might be unlikely to make production, if it's actually mandated more by design and safety requirements then I'm extremely happy. One less thing to worry about...
The interior is my only gripe so far, I am loving virtually everything about the exterior, the creases in the design look awesome (I'm strongly hoping they aren't toned down, looks very muscular like it is), the nose looks sweet, I love the scoop, the rear end looks great IMO including the tailights (to the thread starter you can see the whole car in the video on the R&T link in the big thread), and the "gills" on the sides that many are complaining about look great to me. They help break up the side of the car that might get to look too solid or flat without something there to break it up, anyway I like the gills.
I suppose I'm not crazy about the exhaust tips with the flat top and the rest rounded, not sure...

dislikes;
gills on 1/4 panel,
slit in hood,
grill.
Likes;
Everything else! And A LOT!!!!
Changing the high belt line will change the entire look of the car. It does work with the look, and I do not think it will impede vision at all, and if anything, make the car safer.

Re: Detailed multipoint survey of pros and cons?
im not too sure how i feel about the egg crate grille.
i would probably prefer the lower fog/corner lights to be like this
i really like the little ram air slit on the front with the cowl hood as well. the low roof really makes it look fairly gangster (sorta like the 300) i like the real trunk.
but i am worried about them B pillars. those things look HUGE.
Now i only hope there is a LOT of room under the hood to make it easy to work on them.

Re: Detailed multipoint survey of pros and cons?
LIKES:
functional hood and brake ducts.
On top of body gas cap
grill
The roof seems like its chopped like a really mean car
Lights set back into the grill, with the hood giving it a shadow effect
I love the rear, the car looks like it has hips
cowl hood
headlights
Just the one Chevy emblem in the front looks great. Its subtle and sets off the car. It isn't over done by writting GM and Chevy and Camaro on every single corner of the car, I really hate it when that is done.
the way C A M A R O is spelt out
fender flares
and overall, the small stuff really comes together.
Dislikes.
Silver band below the windshield. But something is need there to keep it from being bland.
I like the functional brake ducts, but they look a little blandish. Maybe redo the brake ducts?
Neutal.
The wheels
the rear lights(i can't figure out it i like them or hate them )
The air intake below the grill.
