Re: Diesel Camaro!

I'd love to see it happen. New ideas are always welcome. Might even create a new following.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

Some of you guys think people complain too much about the 5th gen's possible weight now. I can't imagine what the weight of a diesel 5th gen would be like. I am all for diesels, but for a performance car give me a relatively light weight car with a high revving gas motor. Even monster torque doesn't mean too much if there are no RPMs to go with it.

Honestly, I would rather see the R&D go into an AWD system for a Camaro than a diesel setup. The vehicle's weight increase due to an AWD system would seem more appropriate to me, given the application. Not that I would want the weight increase to begin with. I doubt to an extreme that either scenario would be a possibility though.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

I'd be open to it being an OPTION, but not standard. Definattly not avalible on the SS, or Z28 type models, but maybe have a Camaro TD (Turbo Diesel) Model option?

Audi has been running a diesel V10 powered race car for a while now, and it has been doing pretty well.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

well I would say, maybe something even smaller than the new diesel that just got announced. 3.0 liter diesel or something like that, but they don't have the cash to do something like that.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

Wow.... talk about having your cake (awesome torque and HP, endless modding potential) and eating it too (super durability, mileage and uber-low emissions)!

This seems like a no-brainer! I'd drive the hell out of a diesel Camaro!

Now a turbo-diesel AWD Caddy CTS would cause some serious Euro-trash ****-pucker!

Yeah, I think a lot of us are aware of it. I also feel that the rules in that particular class are stacked at the very least some for the diesel.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

Isnt it one of the Audi cars that has a diesel that walked the C6R in one of the endurance races not to long ago and won?

The C6R would catch it in the corners but got walked in the straight line!

These newer diesels are not what they used to be, there is a newer Dodge truck around here that runs at least 11's from what I hear.

Re: Diesel Camaro!

I don't see why you guys care what type of fuel is put in your car. You are sounding like you wouldnt use race gas in a car specifically made to handle it.

Ik the car will behave a bit different but if it is fast, why gives a care.
