Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?

Re: Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?
If I had the money I would consider it. I think they did a really good job with the car overall. The thing that a lot of people forget is that even though the price of the car is going to be high, so will the price of replacement parts. Two piece rotors, the size of those wheels and tires, all of the special cosmetic parts...etc. It is all going to add up. Sure, it will be cheaper to maintain than a $100,000 Porsche, but I wouldn't want to daily drive it. I wish I had enough money to have one as a weekend car.

I have a 4,250 mile 2SS that is almost paid off. I keep telling myself that if I could get a good trade value, or sell it outright, I can swing a ZL1. And I may never have the opportunity to purchase a car like this ever again.
We'll see how the pricing and ordering info comes out. Im confident GM will price the car competetive, just curious how allotments will look.
Jason, whats your plan?

Re: Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?
I would definitely consider this car but so far with just the mention of a manual only transmission I would say no at this point. Plus I want to see what next year at Detroit or one of the big car shows brings in regards to the C7 Vette. It would be a tough decision but it all depends on price of the ZL1 and the C7 as well as what the C7 is going to offer in terms of engine/HP and options. I am pretty confident that the looks will be awesome on the C7. Either way I am glad that GM is keeping up their competition with the GT500.

Re: Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?
I voted for the last option. Not because I don't love the car, but because there is no way I'm dropping $50k on a car anytime soon.
Would I love to have a ZL1 (used) someday? Absolutely. But realistically, even that is unlikely. I'd be more likely to buy an SS droptop and do some engine mods to get to similar power levels.
If I had sick money, enough to have a small fleet of cars, I'd probably grab one. But if I can only have one "toy" / nice driver car, it probably wouldn't be this one, however unbelievably awesome it is.

As much as I am thrilled with how the ZL1 shaped up, I will not likely be buying one. There's a few reasons...
- I have a lot tied up into my current Camaro, and I am extremely happy with it and want to have some more fun with it.
- What the ZL1 makes at the flywheel, mine makes at the tire.
- I am personally hoping that a Z28 comes out sometime in the future, and by then I will possibly be interested in trading into something new, something different.

I voted no based on the price.
I love what Im seeing so far but needed to be honest with myself. Maybe if price comes down or used or something. I have over 3k in GM bucks. Thats not even applicable to the current Camaro. And I saved that over 8 years for this car specifically

I started saving my money in 2003 for a next gen Camaro.

Re: Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?
I got my GM Card in 2003. I started collecting GM Bucks for the returning Camaro betting and hoping on two things.
1.) it would come back
2.) GM would build it better this time, which I was hoping more toward the 69 with independent rear. I wasnt a big fan of the 3rd and 4th gen feeling like you were almost laying down.
Late 2004 I bought my 69 but my eyes were bigger than my wallet so I sold it for 1500 more in 05 which was basically breaking even when you think about it.
in 05 when the Mustang went retro, I was hoping Camaro would surprise everyone with a return to the 69 retro after hiatus with modern underpinnings and independent rear. I was a bit of a geek with my 69. It was plane Jane and the trunk was rusted out. The trunk floor sheet metal also was holding up the gas tank so I had to stop driving it. I wanted to turn it into a corner carver with modern suspension. possibly a C4 rear. I would take a sketch pad out to the drive and try to draw what I would imagine what a modern one would look like. Everything I came up with really wasnt as good at the original Kris in Popular Hotrodding in 05 which as good as it was, I thought the 69 was better.
So to answer your question. Knew? not really. Was just playing the odds...

i saved for my car in 2005 but i didnt know what it was going to be. i didnt even know they were actually going to make it, but i started saving the day i saw spy shots of the concept.
i got a gm card too, just for my camaro. ive had it almost 5 years now. i was only allowed to use 1000 for the camaro though. i had about 5k toward a vehicle. BS.

Wont be buying . Both the V8 Camaros and Mustangs are well outa my price range now . Maybe after school, but certainly not now . Im not saying its not worth the money though, hell, even at $50K this will be a steal.

Re: Do you plan to buy a 2012 ZL1?
This poll is ending up almost exactly where I thought it would. We had a disciple phone conference on Monday evening about it with the Camaro team, and I am pretty sure someone said "This car is definitely not for everyone."
