When I thought there could be no stupider arguments in this forum, the airbag thread strikes and just bewilders me with it's content. For every negative that the airbag has, it has much greater positives. The airbags will not be optional, they will not be deleted, they will most certainly be in the car and I'm glad for it. Who cares if it costs money to get it replaced, be lucky that you made it through the wreck to get it replaced. I'm sure the cost of getting your airbag repacked is a lot less than the hospital bills you might incur from the injuries you would suffer if you didn't have an airbag.

Make it optional? Are you aware it cost as much if not more to make optional as it does to make it standard?

I mean if a few hundred bucks will make you choose the possibility of death and certain serious injury as apposed to the small possibility of death and slim chance of serious injury...

I think he just about insulted everyone on this board with his sterotypical response. We all know people who drive Camaro's live in trailer parks and are sporting a mullet.
I have been driving for over 20 years and not once have been in an accident were the airbags would have helped. The seat belt possibly saved my life in one accident but an airbag wouldnt have done a thing.
Everyone in this thread knows that airbags will be standard, its the law. I was only commenting on a wish list for me. I would rather not have them and pay less for the car, which I know wont happen. If I get in a wreck and get hurt. who cares, it is my decision. I dont mind taking the risk, because the odds are on my side I will never use the airbags.

 

I think you guys are reading too much into RoMaD's post . It was a JOKE . (unless it hit too close to home because you guys really DO have mullets and live in trailers and have primer gray cars with 1 painted fender and 1 mis-matched wheel?? ).

Perhaps thinking about a future car without air-bags is like thinking in the past, when mullets were cool?? I mean, at one time, cars came without seat-belts ... but that would be backwards thinking now, wouldn't it? And to say "I've been in several accidents where airbags wouldn't have helped", then what about someone who has NEVER been in an accident?? Do they ask for a car without a seat-belt then, because they never needed them in the first place???

You gotta be kidding, right? Then again, I guess that's why the mulletoids have missing teeth. They'd rather eat a steering wheel than get hit with an airbag.

 

I have never had a problem with airbags. I just wish (and the law may have already changed) that their expansion velocity was not set to stop an unbelted occupant. That is where a lot of their injuries come from.

Have you ever seen someone who got hit by an airbag? They look like they just got out of the ring with mike tyson back in his day.

 

yeah... have you ever seen someone who didn't have an airbag and had a crash hard enough to snap their neck/spinal column? Probably not, becase that person would be DEAD... But I have. it ain't pretty cleaning up dead bodies. Airbags are there for a reason. They're not there just to beat you with an ugly stick.
