The point being, (A) it is only speculation (including price) as nothing has been announced, and (B) Edmunds.com is full of crap.

You also have to remember that the C6 Vette right now comes with a lot more standard items than a base SS Camaro...Listen, not taking anything away from the Camaro, it is an awesome vehicle, especially the SS. I am just saying that in my opinion I would rather own a base C7 than a Z28 if they are in the same ballpark price range. Compared to a base SS, that would be a lot more money compared to a base Z28 for not a huge difference in performance numbers, almost a $20K difference...Again this is all speculation at this point in time for the Z28 and the C7. Just my 2 cents worth of input.

The Corvette does everything a Camaro does and more...Except carry 4 people. And its not a Camaro.
I love Corvettes, dont get me wrong. But I dont think its right to compare them.

The Z28 should be priced lower than the SS I'm thinking. Somewhat lighter and lower optioned, more toward handling with maybe a 5.3 HO engine rather than a 6.0.

???? WHAT!? you go any lower priced from the SS and you get the v6 camaro. we already know the z28 is getting a s/c motor. so the odds of it being priced lower than the ss is out of the question.

I predict the Z28 will come in somewhere around $42K MSRP for the "base" version. If its anywhere close to $50k it will fail, especially when the greedy dealers start adding $15-20k market "adjustments" to the price.

I'll be honest, at first I just shook my head after reading this. Then I got thinking in the "what if" terms.

What if the Z28 is what was described above, and then something else had a supercharger and was the top of the line Camaro?

No reading between the lines here...I am just saying "what if".

i dont think id buy it. i dont think there is enough weigh to be dropped off the car to make that 5.3 move the car quicker than a ss.

There was proposal supported by Bob Lutz, to have a lower end Camaro V8 model. It would have had V6 trim and the G8's 361 hp L76 6.0L. It would have been priced somewhere between the base V6 and SS.

Why was it killed?

Fear that it would eat away at the higher profit SS sales.

was it the ls2 motor? i dont think theres enough room in the line up for 3 v8 versions. 6.0, 6.2, and a 6.2 s/c. and that makes sense that they wouldnt do it. look at how many g8 gt were sold compared to gxp models. i dont have hte numbers here but i sure do see alot more g8 gt's than i do gxp.
