The Sound System?! Mind you, the tune of a roaring V8 sounds nice but I still need some Music... Please tell me GM is going to go with a system that is alittle more simplified than the Monsoon systems...

i hope there is an option to get the base system though... i always put 100% aftermarket stuff in my cars... i know most ppl dont (reason for the option)
im sure itll all be good, sound is the least of my worries on the 5th gen

I hope they go with pioneer. I also hope they put in a single din or double din radio that will be easy to swap out. If they go with something like the concept has good luck putting an aftermarket cd player in.

I think you are going to be sorely disappointed if you are looking for something simple to swap out. The way things are going integration is everything. With the Camaro holding the spotlight, GM may want to show off some fancy XM/onstar/navigation system. Also, the press would rip it up and down if it only has a standard radio, even as the base option.

I'm curious to see what it will have for an automatic transmission. I would get a manual myself but curious to see what it has for auto.

I really hope they give it a nice sound system option. It would be nice to buy a car and not have to touch the sound system for once! Especially if it is integrated in a way that would make changing it out a b!tch...

I really don't care too much on the sound system. That's not to say that I don't appreciate some of the cool modern set-ups. However as long as I can turn up the bass and play CDs I'm happy. (FWIW, both my primary drivers, my 95 Z28 and my 02 Tahoe LS have the original bone stock sound systems. Quite frankly, they do the trick.)
For the most part my next Camaro will be a weekend cruiser/canyon carver. Sure I'll want to have some tunes when I buzz up to the wine country, or up my favorite backroads to the Sierras. However, I'll most likely have the radio on mute so I can listen to the engine drone and the tires squeal. Heck, IMHO, if sound system is more important to you than performance, you shouldn't be buying a performance car in the first place.

I'm with jg95z28 100%.
The only time I've ever upgraded a stereo was going from a AM/FM Stereo to a cassette in my 71 Olds when I was in high school, then doing the same in my 78Z 21 years ago and then later putting in a CD player.
I've never had a need or desire to upgrade any of my other cars. As long as I have a CD player I'm happy. An input for an MP3 player would probably be nice, but that's about if for me. I could care less about forking out an extra $500-$1000 for either a factory optioned or aftermarket sound system just to blast my eardrums out distortion free..............I'm already deaf enough after working around jets for the past 19 years .
If an upgraded OPTIONAL sound system would help sell more cars, I'm all for it. But please don't make an expensive system standard or mandatory on certain models or options (Z28, SS, convertible, etc....)
