A few thoughts about the concept

Overall, I like the design/theme of the car. The exterior is awesome and I really think GM did a good job honing in on the key design elements. However, I will say the interior leaves a lot to be desired. I know this has been touched on quite a bit, but I'd like to make a suggestion to whoever at GM may read this, and also hear some other opinions.

The interior is too retro. I feel GM should look at the GTO interior when designing the production car's interior. The style of the concept will sell, no doubt...but the overly retro interior will alienate a lot of buyers. The base model will need to appeal to the masses, and a subtle, very well constructed interior such as that of the GTO will appeal to everyone. The retro interior on the concept will only appeal to those who want to feel like they are driving a 1st gen Camaro, while the exterior (albeit retro in some aspects) is a fresh enough design to appeal to a number of demographics. In other words, a more modern, nicely constructed interior, such as the interior in the GTO, most likely wouldn't offend anyone, whereas the retro interior has already offended a lot of people.

I know GM has talked of scaling back the interior, but it needs a total redisgn IMO.

Really the GTO is not selling that good but that may be a number of reasons. I would like a few changes to the inside but over all I for one love it.

I agree with the GTO comment, that interior is pretty nice from what I've seen. A Camaro's interior is probably not going to have all the bells and whistles, but the general direction of that interior isn't a bad model

People have dissed the 69 type console gauges but I for one think they are a stroke of genius! I am less enamored with the rotating Tach/Speedo gauges. I haven't seen it mentioned but those are rotating gauges aren't they? They look like it. I generally like the interior. Those metallic looking inserts won't be in a production model. I hope the seats are "racing type" seats. But they bolsters have to stay reasonable enough to allow American butts to fit in them comfortably.

I don't see any reason the Camaro wouldn't have the same 'bells and whistles' as the current GTO. They are both ~ $30k cars, similar platforms/size, most likely the same motor/tranny, etc.

It doesn't really matter to GM why people don't like the retro console/interior, but rather that a lot of people don't like them.

I'd say the bulk of camaro sales will come in the low 20k area, and the interior will reflect that

I haven't seen any proof that one side outweighs the other. GM will do lots of focus groups to do determine WHAT most people like and WHY they like it, I can assure you.
Maybe GM doesn't doesn't value what 97bowtie thinks as much as he does.

You're missing the point. It doesn't matter how much one side outweighs the other. If 51% of the people like the retro interior and 49% of people don't, guess what, that means millions of people don't like the interior. If GM made an interior that appealed to as many people as possible, they will sell more cars.

Of course my opinion means more to me than it does to GM, welcome to the world genius.

That puts no limit on the style/fit & finish of the interior, and the $30k Camaro would obviously have more 'bells and whistles' (options) than the base car.

Man I love the console gauges too! I think that is a must to leave in the design. Scott S. hinted in another post that HUD may be an option with them and that would be truly cool IMO. Those gauges are not ones that you have to look at constantly anyway. Just an ocassional glance is enough. Just give me a big old honkin tach like in the concept. I think the interior design is really cool, especially if done with some tasteful materials that are durable.
