Finally drove a 2014 -1ss

I test drove a 2014 1 ss with paddle shift this weekend and am very impressed with the car.
Dealer offered $800 off MSRP is this a good offer?

I am under the impression that dealerships can sell at invoice and still make money through "hold back" built into the invoice price, is this correct?

It seems here in North MS ford dealers are so much easier to work with than Chevrolet dealers. Ford dealers appear to want to maximize total number of cars sold, while Chevrolet dealers appear to want maximum profit per automobile sold.

Thanks for your input,

I really want a new Camaro even more now after driving one. I hit 100 mph so fast it was mind boggling compared to my 1994 z-28.

Ah, you will love the new SS compared to the 94 z28. I used to own a 94 z28 and they are totally different animals.

I say visit another dealership and talk to them... be honest too. Say... so and so dealership is willing to sell it to me for this much. See if they can beat it for your business. Don't be afraid to shop around.

I recently helped my mother in law buy a new equinox this way and saved her quite a bit of money (over 2k) over the original price that they quoted her the 1st time.

If you can do it... go for it!

The difference between invoice and MSRP on a 1SS with automatic is $1464, so he's still making over $600 on the sale.

I know Michigan is different, but most dealers here sell at invoice or $100 under invoice to non-gm discount sales (which is like 5-10%% around here).

Invoice is a given. If you are able to wait until model year end, you can get invoice - rebate. Dealers make holdback on every car.
