I can see your point, but I think it is a little too early to say the Mustang will keep selling the way it is now. I think we are going to see a bit of backlash coming in the near future towards this style.
Yea, I couldn't let you get away with saying the 05 and up are good looking.

But I also agree with everyone who is saying to wait. Let's reserve final judgement for when we can actually see the car in person. Whatever it ends up looking like, I'm just pumped that it's back!
That's what I have been saying and also what I am afraid of. How is this car going to appeal to anyone besides Camaro fans or people who might consider a Mustang? It has a very narrow focus and I don't see anyone who owns imports going to buy this car and that is where Chevy needs to draw in people. I thought that was one of thier goals? That old, crappy retro interior is not going to draw in any people either. I hope they change that with the quickness because that could be a real deal breaker in my opinion.
It looks like the car is pretty tall too. Look at the distance between the wheel well and the top fender surface, it is huge. I was hoping for a lean, slick car but that is not going to happen it looks like. I guess fat, bloated cars are the way to go now. Damn I am crabby................

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
Love the car, but if the interior looks like those drawings, I don't know.. cant stand that at all. Give me one in Hugger Orange, move the foglights to the bottom corner of the bumper, make sure it has at least 400hp and a 6-speed, and please get t-tops! Love the gills on the back, but they better be functional, at least on the performance model. Those wheels are a bit large, but look decent. The grille looks cadillac-esque, Change the style of it, but keep the shape. Im sure the production version will be more along the lines of what we all want, but Im happy with it enough to go buy it today, as long as the interior doesnt look like that.

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
That car is pure awesome IMO, I don't get the negative comments. It is unbelievably sweet looking, but looks mean as hell too and screams Camaro loud and proud. No doubt about it, I will be driving one and as soon as possible. The thought of driving that badboy with a 400hp LS2 or something even better is literally making me giddy, lol... Somebody said it doesn't even look like a Camaro, not to flame someone but that about as backwards as one can get.
Honestly I expect most of these "NO RETRO!" guys to come around with time and seeing the real cars... This car looks very modern and just got even less retro looking to me, it's incredibly badass... If you're convinced it's retro and it's horrible, fine, but it's not going to change so either get used to it or go buy an Eclipse, those are nice and futuristic (read ugly)...
If the online community decides this is "fugly" and a screw up then they're off their rocker, because this thing is very very well done IMO. As with most things it's probably the haters that will make the most noise, but that is a beautiful car and if the buying public doesn't like it then I don't know what to say... It looks wayyyyy better than the 4thgen ever did, honestly I'm glad it's not an evolution of the 4thgen at all. 4thgens still manage to look alright alot of the time but they ARE misproportioned or something.
I actually like most of the newer performance cars (including the new Stang), but this tops them all. And I don't think I'm just being a Camaro Fanboy. It looks worlds better than the Challenger, especially the rear end (I do like the Challenger but the rear looks funny). It also comes off looking extremely modern IMO while the Challenger looks old (not all that bad to look old like the Challenger, I'm not a rabid "NO RETRO!!" nut, but still...).
My only small gripe is I'm not sure I like the square gauge bezels or whatever they are. But then again I haven't seen them as sitting in the car plus that looks like just a drawing, maybe it's not even what's in the physical concept interior wise?? I need to at least see an actual photo.
Oh and I am worried the low/chopped looking roofline will get changed for production, it jumps out as being very "concept-ish". Not sure how that will impact the car's looks if the greenhouse magically gets taller for the production car... Of course the 300C/Charger/Magnum look pretty chopped in production so maybe it's not going to change much...
Pretty sure those are supposed to be gauges, angled toward the driver slightly. 1stgens had those I believe. I think that would be cool for tranny temp gauges or something like that but I would rather have most of my more commonly used gauges up in the standard instrument cluster area, looks like this drawing only has the speedo/tach up there... Who knows, maybe I'll love it.

My big hitch about the interior are the weird slots in front of the gear shift. What the heck are those? They look out of place.

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
If the car can compete size comfort and (please lord PLEASE) ride quality with a BMW coupe, consider this car for 100k unit/year potential.
You have
1. Mustang
2. Infiniti G35
3. BMW 3 series
4. Mercedes C coupe
And for FWDs
5. Honda Accord
6 Mitsu Eclipse
This is a big market. By toning down what we want on the base model, and offering better ride and interior, they will steal sales from all of these cars.
By offering a decent base model, they will do better than the camaro has done before, which is always the idea with a new car. right?

No, I have shown it to many people, some with Camaros some who know nothing about cars, and none have said they liked it. That's not even an issue because of course that is just a micro example. I didn't say that what I think is based on facts, it is just what I suspect. You also can't be on this board and think that everyone is going to love it.
My question is, why would anyone who doesn't already like Camaros like this car?

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
Ok, I've been trying to collect some thoughts on this concept, watch the vid more than a few times, not gonna say, love it, or hate it, 'til next Saturday when I see it in the flesh...but,
Like others said, the Grille is NOT inspiring, says retro with a shout, also NO cheap looking Gray plastic, GO BLACK!..accent the lead edges if you wish.
Small side mirrors, I know won't make production, so not worried.
Dash...start over...console gages, need to find another use. If the dash stays, I will NEED HUD.
Love to see a functional Z28 hood/scoop, smal slot reminds me of Knight Rider...or 2nd gen Birds.
I like the overall compact shape and design, tho more, modern cues would be appreciated.
I guess the concept in the pic, not sure if it's "The ONE", seems to have a LOT of 1st gen cues...following in Mustangs tread marks.
(I don't know, just have to wait 'til I see "The ONE" in person I guess...)

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
I'd have to question the validity/sanity of any "enthusiast" who spends time banging the keyboard away at a Honda Civic site in the first place...."general sports car enthusiast" or not.
How many of those guys liked the 4th Gen?
How about the 3rd?
How about any Camaro?
Does it matter?
Should we care?
The car needs to appeal to the base buyers. Everything else is cake. Most potential base car buyers don't even visit "enthusiast" sites, so until you get general public reaction next week no amount of internet arguing about how "pretty" or "ugly" it is matters anyway!

Re: a Finished 5th Gen....???
I like it. Alot. It looks sleek like my 4th gens, and has that "pissed off" look that the Mustang and Challenger don't have. Even though I was hoping for a more contemporary design (this thing is definetley retro to some degree), I still like the overall car. I'm very curious to see how the production version looks. Having just graduated college last month, 2009 is about the time that I'll be in the market for a brand new car.
