I'm gonna side with Jason on this one. In this day and age I think 19/20 is reasonable . Though I hope they don't go bigger.

 

I think 19/20 are too big. Having staggered sizing would also be a setback. Wheels are getting too large and too heavy in my opinion. No car should have anything larger than an 18. Anything else just looks tacky.

 

that's personal taste. Give the people options... if you want a Camaro with 18 inch wheels from factory i am sure they will have that option... but if they want bigger.. GM needs to offer it too as long as it is cost effective. I am sure we will see 17 or 18 for v6 and bigger for the v8s (soltice comes with 18s). if you don't like... You can always sell the bigger wheels and get them the size you want

 

I'd prefer 18" s all around. I like a little more rubber between me & the road than a 19" or 20" would provide.

 

I have 17"s on my '67 and they look small. They need to be at least 19".

 

The production number was probably just a quote-level figure, rather than an order quantity.

 

The 450,000 is probably a set amount to be build over a period of a few years , not all at once . We have alot of automotive accounts where after the bid is won there is set amount over a period of years .

Hmmm , wish I could see what they look like . I really hope even the backs are NOT 20's . Hopefully thier 18's or at the very biggest 18f/19r's .

 

450,000 of one style or all styles? 112,500 Camaros could be just the number of Z28s, SSs, or base Camaros if the base, SS, and the Z28 have style specific rims for their designation.

 

Don't forget that there needs to be a certain amount of extras as replacement/warranty parts.

 

I dont know. I would imagine the first "wave" of production rims would be for the v6.. if gm does us the way ford did with the mustang. that being not seeing anything but v6s for the first year...

 

I don't think GM's gonna be able to get away with that.

I think it's way more likely that they'll do what Mopar is doing -- the first Challenger production run will be V8s only.

 

While it might be cool having such huge rims on the car (I mean, the concept has 21's / 22's, and it looks great ) I think in the "real world", wheels that big are NOT practical at all . And consider, even the 'Vette is limited at 18's / 19's, so why should we expect the Camaro to get wheels even bigger than that??

For the everyday person, driving their everyday car, I think 17's and/or 18's are more than enough. Heck, try pricing them out compared to 16's!! (I'm in that boat right now with the C5 Z06 rims I recently bought) ... I don't think the Camaro will appeal to the masses if they have to mortgage their tires every couple years!!

18's / 19's as an option for the Z28/SS would seem reasonable though .

 

The Corvette is limited to 18's/19's at the low end. The C6 is package protected for up to 22's, and that will be the trend going forward.

I fully expect 18's/19's/20's on the Camaro. To plan for less, circa next decade, would be silly.

 

These days even some semi-performance cars come with 18" wheels stock, including FWD cars. They days of 16" stock wheels are on the way out, and 18" and higher wheels are becoming more and more common. The more tires out there of a certain size, the cheaper they are likely to be. We do still have a couple of years to go.

That is what the Vette has NOW.

Just one of those things that I have heard. Who knows how accurate it was or how much it can change?
