I have heard that there were "issues" around building the car elsewhere and Canada holding the "rights" to the name? Not sure if that is true or not?? May have been a conspiracy theory, maybe some truth to it?? Somebody knows for sure, just don't know if WE will ever hear the REAL story .

I heard that if GM wanted to build the Camaro again, it had to be there because of Union contracts and whatnot.

There was a former promise to build the next F body in Canada years back when Ste. Therese production ended in 2002. Before the official approval announcement of the Camaro was made there was a bid process internally at GM. Bob Lutz emphatically said no to Canadian production when asked in an earlier Canadian Press interview some months before the announcement was made. Simply put, Oshawa won because of productivity and quality ratings coupled by an attractive economic package that supported a multi platform investment.
