Is GM on the verge of creating "Camaro fatigue"?

We've been exposed to versions of the Camaro concept for a year and a half now. They've headlined at the last two Detroit shows - in fact, the last two < insert city> shows as well. They've appeared on TV, in magazines, been seen live at automotive events and blitzkrieged the internet. Hell, one of them is my avatar and next month we'll see another one in a movie.
And you won't be able to buy one for another 20 months. At which point you'll have a productionized version of the concept. Slightly larger. Less agressive stance. And some other mild revisions.
Will this car be stale by the time you can buy one? Will we reach Camaro fatigue, just as they reach showrooms?

IMO No.
The only people who are being oversaturated with the Camaro are people like those of us on these forums. And we certainly don't seem very fatigued by it yet. We crave more all the time.
I know people outside of here that have barely heard a thing, or never even seen it.
I had the oil changed in my Aveo a couple weeks ago and the guy at the service center noticed the countdown I have on my rear license plate for the Camaro. He didn't know much about it at all, he asked if it was the one that was supposed to be in Transformers and if/when they were coming out with it.
'Slightly larger?'

I'm not sure about Camaro "fatigue", but I do agree with Darth Xed that the timing of the Camaro's appearance in Transformers is less than ideal, to put it mildly. Not that it's necessarily Chevy's fault. If the concept wasn't seen, read or heard about on the auto show circuit, the millions upon millions of people who see it in theaters most definitely will have their interest pumped up now. If production starts roughly 18 months from now I think GM can do plenty to keep momentum and hype going until then.

I was very concerned about this and made a lengthy post on it a while back, but talking to people outside the enthusiast circle, I've found that many who have seen or heard about it, are very excited, but aren't anxiously awaiting it, getting impatient as we are. They only think about it when they see it, which is still, IMO, not enough to get them too hyped up for a car that won't come out for some time.
And, wtf....what does he/she know about it being "slightly larger and with a less aggressive stance" ???

Depends on what you consider less agressive. I dont agree with you. The cars not that far out. Non diehard camaro enthusiast Im sure are seeing it just enough to keep it fresh. Do WE get bored because we dont have new camaro news every single day? I know I do, but the average person isnt looking for every tid bit...

Most people, not on Camaro messageboards, are not exposed to the amount of Camaro media that we are.
My wife, for instance, thought GM had killed it a while back until she heard they came out with a vert version.
She probably won't hear anything else about it till the Transformers movie.

I'm certainly getting impatient. I think GM is taking too long to get the Camaro out. Lots of buzz has been generated, but if you don't deliver, the general population will sway w/ the wind. I'm glad they want to do the car right. But they will miss the wave of interest once the transformers movie comes out.

So it's gonna' be 3/4" higher and an inch or so narrower.......with 1" - 2" smaller diameter wheels.....what so dramatically less agressive about that??
Fatigue is only felt by those who live and breath this stuff on a daily basis, the general public is clueless.
I know why we aren't getting it any sooner and have accepted that time table as something I can't change......just cooling my heels and building another Pro Touring 1973 Camaro to bide my time.......you might try that, it works
Also Charlie, buy yourself a C5 to tide you over, that works for me too........

I think no, because unless you're a "camaro" enthusiest, most people have no idea the camaro is even coming back. I was talking to a fella about my 67 C-10 the other day and we got to talking cars. The camaro came up and I mentioned it will out again in '09. The guy was a Corvette owner and had no idea the camaro was coming back.
