As the title says, how many would like to have them as an option, or even standard? I know i would want them, but there are some out there that would not for whatever reason.

optional... im not wasting money on something like that. Ive never once sat in a car at night and thought i needed to see more clearly.

 

I don't see it making production. They should make it aftermarket friendly and put projector lamps and leave a small pocket behind the headlight where we can mount the ballast

 

Thats not a bad idea making it configurable. Im not trying to price myself out of the market though.

 

I'd love to have H.I.D headlamps. I do a lot of night driving and have beenin an H.I.D equipped Lexus RX330. A huge improvement from the halogen in my Camaro.

 

And dangerous because you blind oncoming traffic as well. I'm suprised that there aren't restrictions on these things yet... I hate them.

 

All properly aimed and configured HID's have self-adjusting features that prevent the beam from pointing upward into other drivers' eyes-- the problem lies mostly with the cars using the refracting lenses similar to traditional cars headlights, as they are more prone to throw the light in unnecessary directions-- AKA into the eyes of oncoming traffic.

Projector beam HID's have a MUCH lower level of "stray light"

The Camaro has exactly that kind of light.

I will be among the HID-equipped z/28 owners, should they be available.

While it shouldn't be standard equipment, this is really a must-have option IMO. I'm sure it could be worked into package, but I'd definitely pay $500 for a headlight upgrade. Our Mazda3 has Xenon headlamps and it's one of my favorite features.

 

When I drove my aunt's CTS with HID's, I fell in love. I think every car on the planet should have HID (or some other technology that provides at least as much illumination).

I think that if HID becomes more mainstream, the prices will come down.

 

Projectors = YES

The GTO has regular projectors, and while the stock low beam bulbs are lacking, they are a great design, i love the focus compared to regular lights. A lot of people falling in love with HIDs probably don't even realize most of the difference is in having the projectors as opposed to the old style reflectors that throw light everywhere you don't need it. People have been modifyingthe connector on high beam bulbs (same wattage as stock low beams, just no silver paint on the tip) and it is supposed to make a huge difference in light output with no loss of focus, IOW, HID light output with cheap regular bulbs on the shelf at wally world.

HIDs = NO (standard anyway, could care less if they make it an option)

fancy colored lights that are marginally brighter at orders of magnitude more cost do nothing for me though, so i wouldn't order them. They are in style though and thus might help sell some cars to the 'I have HID' fashion junkies.

 

The HID lights on my step-mother's Maxima are very effective (much more so than the lighting on my Camaro. I will say that the Camaro's lights are adequate, but the Maxima is better). I want HIDs on my next car. Aftermarket HIDs have given HIDs in general a bad rap to some extent.
