Has the camaro lost its muscle???
I love the camaro and have been following it closely on this board since the concept was unveiled. I had fears that the production car wouldn't live up to the concept....it got close but no cigar
the rear of the car is rounded instead of square like this picture
http://www.2007camaro.org/camaro.jpg
the side skirts on the concept gave the care a svelte look with a commanding presence
the car now looks pedestrian and much less refined
can i achieve the look of the concept with aftermarket parts?

If you don't mind the advice, I'd wait until you see the car in person before comparing preproduction pics to a heavily photoshopped brochure pics.
Even if you are onto something, the aftermarket is expected to be MASSIVE for this car.

If I were you I would wait till you see it in person. You are going to be suprised that most of the changes will b very unnoticable unless the cars are side by side.
They have changed very little what they did they kept it as close as they could for a car that needs to live in the real world.
The biggest change has been the 20 inch wheels down from 24 inch. Now that I have seen both the show cars wheels make it look a little cartoonish.

i'm still pretty optimistic about the car ...just a little worried because i remember how cool the 05 mustang concept looked and how plain and ugly it came out...
and considering that the camaro is probably going to retail in a similar price package i'm skeptical that it could retain the jaw dropping looks of the concept ...cuz the concept looks like it should retail for 70,000
which kind of makes me wish the camaro went the dodge route and priced it higher so it could retain all the awesomeness of the concept...
but if i gotta put sideskirts, put the bowtie....i'm sure the convertible with a nice paintjob will be awesome next year in my driveway

I want to know what the small hump is on the side of the hood in front of the driver. Looks like some kind of heat extractor? I noticed it in white and thought it was just an illusion but it shows up in the darker color also.

I'm a little shocked by people's responses to the 5th gen-- The 4th gen wasn't exactly aggressive or muscular IMHO...It was actually pretty bulbous with a sloping hood, rounded sides, and wiiiiide hips.
The 5th gen looks like it's put in some time at the gym doing some power lifting, looks great IMHO

I'm pretty sure that's just an illusion. It doesn't show up in the front pics.

Wow, you guys are just....WOW.
I want everyone to think back in your life how many times you have seen pictures of a car.
Now think back and think how many times you have seen the actual car that looked nothing like the picture.
You guys are using a white car vs a photoshopped marketing/sales picture to use as a comparison.
WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE IT IN PERSON, BEFORE YOU MAKE A JUDGMENT and remember what Scott has been telling us since he was born.
KEEP
THE
FAITH

I had a 1996 Z28 on order at the time the SS started showing up in magazines. I did not like the way the SS looked in the magazines.
When I saw the SS in person, I cancelled my Z28 order and bought the SS that I saw on the spot.
Now, this isn't about the whole Z28 vs. SS thing that some of you guys cannot seem to shut up about, but my point is that you must see a car in person to make a fair judgment.
We have proven it dozens of times when it comes to the next Camaro. Members who have been here for a couple of years will remember that when the concept came out, people were crabbing about it. We all said "see it in person" and the greater majority of the time, people would change their tune after seeing it in person. It applies to now, and every other car out there. 2D images cannot capture what a 3D car really looks like. Back in the 70s when everything was a box, maybe. Not now.

I decided to pick up a Harley this spring to hold me over. Hopefully I'll live long enuff to see the vert. I think they hold their value pretty well, So I shouldn't lose too much by the time the Z/vert arrives.
