It does have some Caddy XLR in it. It looks like its designed for the 40 somethings. Big question is going to be the price. The V8 Camaro will have to be less than its Pontiac GTO cousin. And if it comes out with 400hp, the Vette set is going to be P'd off. Maybe a detuned version of the LS2 with 375hp and priced with the Mustang GT to make everyone happy and let the modding begin!

the Vette will likely have more than 400HP when (if) this thing comes out.

We need to let go of the "Corvette HP ceiling" thing...it's all fair game now....with the possible exception of top models...

no, GM will never allow the Camaro to have more HP than the Vette, otherwise why would someone pay the premium on the Corvette if a car $15,000 cheaper can dust it?

There's a hell of a lot more difference between a $30k car and a $50k car than just using the same engine....

Great shots Doug. By the time they removed the rope line I couldn't get any good shots except interior stuff, so I'm glad everbody's sharing their photos.

Doh!
And for those of you who might say, “Well, the Challenger has 35 hp more,” I would just reply that we have a certified 1OO more on tap from the ZO6 engine, should the need arise.

Bob can say that if he wants but he's not the final say on it That was a blanket statement meant to appease the "we need the most HP" crowd. While GM has in the past put the SAME motor in the Camaro that is in the Vette, they have NEVER to my knowledge (discounting COPO models) made the Camaro be able to smoke their $45,000 flagship. I wouldn't count on that here either. If the Camaro gets an LS7 you can count on the Vette getting that standard or getting a 550hp+ monster motor.

I know I sound like an echo... but thank you for the great pics... one of the best series of photos of the Camaro yet... anywhere!

The car looks sinister under the dull light.

Is this your opinion, or did you actually talk to someone from GM this past weekend about future product plans?

FYI the L69 305 5 speed 84 Camaro Z28 with the G92 performance rear axle will run neck and neck with the 350 crossram Corvette from 84. With little to no luxury options it would actually beat the Vette. Also I would wager that the 1LE 89 350 auto cars would out run a loaded up Vette with the 4+3 Nash and the 350 TPI.

Re: Here's some of my pictures of the Camaro at NAIAS!!

no, I own GM so I know what they are going to do

of course its my opinion. I don't think theres maybe 10 of us on this board period that could say they know anything about what GM is really planning, the rest of us are just speculating. But ask yourself this, as bad as GM is doing money wise right now can they really afford to **** off loyal owners of their flagship sports car? Thats all they need is another car that isn't making them money...

There are definitely examples of when GM screwed up and made a car faster than the Corvette, the 86-87 Buick Turbo Regals are a good example. They never last though because its not something GM can afford to let happen often, or their flagship loses sales from the "I need the fastest" market. Better built or not, there are few people who would buy a Vette for $15k-$20k more than a Camaro if the Camaro could smoke it.

Believe what you want though
