I'm getting tired of reading about Charlie's weight problem every time I visit this website.

It's giving me a headache!
AMEN!!!!!

You can talk about weight till you're purple in the face, but you aren't going to change a single thing, and GM is still going to bring out the lightest Camaro possible given the budget and tradeoffs mandated for the pricepoint it's going to sell at. If someone could make a lighter RWD, IRS, V8 powered, 500+ horse handling chassis any lighter at the same price, someone would have done it and rake in CAFE benefits by now. Personally, I think the whole debate has gotten past any real contribution and now borders on silliness if anyone thinks GM isn't doing all it can to make the Camaro as light as possible.

If there's anything the performance of the G8 GT shows is that weight isn't the end-all, deciding factor some want to believe.

BTW, FWIW, Alpha can't handle a high powered V8. It's a lightweight architecture which isn't going to be built to handle 500 or probally even 400 horsepower, so perish the thought.

Oh come on Guy, you're piling on too? I can't help that this thread has been going for weeks. I've been out of town for a good portion of that - so don't blame me.

Actually, I (and I believe you too), would prefer that. I'd take 400 hp in a light, tidy package, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK, over a 500+ hp, heavy, bulky
one.

Amen. I'd take even less power than that. All of us current F-body owners have started with much less power than that.
It's much harder to make something lighter than it is to make more power. I'm just hoping GM takes care of the hard part for me.
Just give me a V8 with a decent amount of cubes and I'll make it have more power. That's the easy part.

I think his post was just fine. Simple can be good. Incredibly nitpicky - not so much.

I enjoy your posts, Charlie - much like I enjoy the posts of many of those that disagree with your position. That's what a discussion forum is all about.

Allow me to opine for a moment...One would suppose that it would depend on a particular individual`s perception of where simple ends and over simple begins to determine for themsleves as to whether what I stated was a simple statement or an overly simple statement. It would seem not all peoples perception is the same as yours...and I daresy, not exactly as mine either.

...Now with that said, you may continue arguing for arguments sake, as you`ve stated previously, you enjoy it.

When expressing an opinion on a vehicle that isn't even out yet? I disagree. In fact, I would suggest that just the opposite is true.

To each their own.

Nah, I'm just a stickler for accuracy that doesn't care if people on the internet like me.

It's the reason Jason calls me a son of a bitch on the podcast all the time.

Stickler for accuracy is usually OCD.
You could also be a troll.

I forsee a problem with Alpha not taking more then 400hp.
If Alpha will go against cars like the 3, you are looking at M3, C63, RS4 are making way over 400hp NOW.
