Here's the Z28 news

OMG!! Doom and gloom...no Z28. BooHoo... 95% of you that are bitching about no z would't buy it if they brought one out first year anyways! It sounds like a lot of bench racing whiners in here. Just like the Z06 was delayed, so will the ultimate big dog. Besides, for me I'm buying a no option base V8 and slap on a turbo and walk away from all the dreamers!

Ok, my "winkie club" membership was just re-confirmed....so let's just say that my ( & IREngineer ) previous posts in this thread were pretty close to the reality of the current situation and I'm going to spend this "mini-hiatus" trying to get the Z/28 program re-focused on what a "true Z/28" SHOULD be....read: No heavy supercharger....
Besides I'll lay good money that by the time this model "might" come out, the pig that is the GT500 won't be around anyway.....

or some other bitch....

Good enough for now. Any idea when GM will show us the SS?

2010 is the make it or break it year for GM. They need to start the VEBA fund that the UAW will oversee for healthcare for union workers. GM needs the $1.7 Billion plus 9% interest that was deferred from 2009 as part of the big money saving announcement on 7-15-08. That is in addition to the $7 Billion that is due in 2010. If gas prices remain high and money making truck and SUV sales remain low, GM will be in a major money crunch in 2010.
The SC Z28 was put on the back burner, but the flame has gone out. A 5000/year run of cars for 3 years just isnt worth GMs time or investment in its current financial situation. The good news is the Mustang Shelby GT500s can be had for under sticker now and the early C6 ZO6s are in the low to mid $50K range.

Give it time, maybe GM is listening to the grass roots road racers and autocrossers. I`d love to have a stripped (well, OK, maybe A/C!), Koni shocked, Brembo`d, around 425~450HP Z28 track *****. 3300lbs is fine. Can`t be lighter than a 'Vette

So, four pages of hand wringing over what? Something we pretty much knew anyways - no Z28 (or is that Z/28?) when production really starts this year - where's the news there? Sheesh!
FWIW, it's not like the z28 moniker was around without interruption since day 1 - it disappeared between 1975 and 77 and again in 89-90. That said, I'm glad it's back - for real and is as good as it appears to be(although 3800 lbs give or take and 23/26mpg hwy isn't much to write home about). I'm patient, I can wait for the Z..... although, push comes to shove, I wouldn't turn my nose up at the SS.

I will point out these positives though - The parts bolded below are very good things IMO (the progressive springs not so much however). Good job guys.
Chassis/Suspension
Front: double-ball-joint, multi-link strut; direct-acting stabilizer bar; progressive-rate coil springs; fully adjustable camber, caster and toe

I realize some Z28 fans aren`t into road racin', but the Z28 was a handling package........Let the drag racers pay for 500HP in an SS. If you want a Z28 (handling/braking are priorities) 425~450 is plenty. My 380 RWHP Z28 has enough guts to spin the rear tires coming out of turn 11 and turn 6 at BeaveRun (beaverun.com) in 3rd gear. Now that`s FUN! And you want a simple engine, no SC (adds weight too).
