This particular drag racer would LOVE a lighter, n/a Z28. I have no desire for a factory blower (been there, done that), and wouldn't DREAM of putting a turbocharger on a high compression LS(x) that was not designed for it (....things that make you go BOOM...).

Disappointed in the car's weight (less than 100 lbs off the G8). Won't beat on that dead horse any more.

Besides I'll lay good money that by the time this model "might" come out, the pig that is the GT500 won't be around anyway.....
I wouldn't make a bet on that last sentence...

Doug....the GT500 is indeed a pig. At 3920 lbs. A serious pig, IMHO. At 3920 lbs.

Bummer.

If you consider 41 "older", I take offense to that . Hell, once I get my '66 done I'll be taking it to the track as soon as I get a few thousand miles on the motor.

My Dad however IS one of those older guys (68 years) you talk about who seems afraid to hurt his '04 Vette (a Z51 no less!).....or drive it in the rain for that matter . I agree with you, WHAT A WASTE!

But in 1969 he did manage to destroy the stock L79 in the '66 I'm currently restoring if that makes up for it .

Is there one in the works or not? I know it's not coming out at SORP, but is it in the plans for the future?

thank you.

GM never discusses future product planning.....at least 99% of the time....

yea but it's causing issues between members of several different forums I'm on. it's getting nasty on one forum and just want a confirmation of the name plate being used. no confirmation of power or options or anything. just the name if it's going to be used.

from what I am reading into things is expect a z28 with the same power but more performance / handle package in 3 or so years, I say 2012.

I would have loved a supercharged z28, but looks like the corvette is always GM's ***** and gets the good stuff and the Camaro gets the scraps. Oh well....

except in 2000 when the the LS1 SS would be equal to the Vette. Thanks to the Vette's IRS.

Just remember who (& why) said..."Any car can be a Chevrolet, but only a Camaro can be a Z/28"......

sounds like a lot of immature bickering then. If they came out and said they are developing a 550HP supercharged Z28 and it ill be available in 2 years...what kind of advantage would that give to any competition? You gotta play your cards at the right time.

I'm glad to hear Cheryl was misquoted. (Is anyone surprised, seriously?)

Now the question is, can I wait for the Z28 or will I just "have to" buy an SS-RS in the interim.

I think it was Bob Lutz that said the Camaro would compete with the Mustang on every platform and then threw in a hint about still having the LS7. I'd give them 2 yrs to come out with the top dog Camaro.

here is what i would do with the Z/28....id build at least 5k the first year (2010 or never) and make sure every chevrolet dealer with any volume gets one...at the very least it would help put customers in the showroom to look at the car...some may want to buy and cannot afford so they drive off in a malibu or the used gremlin out back...thats what the Z/28 can do for the dealers and the smart dealers know it...after the initial 5k Z/28's i would roll back production to may be 3k units or such whatever the market will bear which will not be large (again compare to 2010 gt500 which is the competition)...GM in my opinion cannot afford to not build this car....i urge GM to at least offer a blower option for the SS and spend a few dollars on Z/28 badging...the help it will give to dealers to push people into other GM models may be substantial..finally i urge GM to get scotts *** and cheryls *** on the volt project as from what i have seen those 2 (and others) gave us a car (camaro) that for all pratical purposes should not be and the volt is a car that if done right can change the perception of GM corporate culture...

ps: whiners shut the hell up...post something of substance or go back to your racing civic forums/rant off
