How can I get a pace car?

How can I get a pace car?
I'd like to get a 6-speed pace car, but I'm not wealthy or well connected. Am I SOL. It's a shame they're limiting them. Now, loyal Camaro guys like me (I've had 15 over 35 years) of average means don't have a chance. Oh well.
Is there a way to find out which dealers get them?
Thanks,
Geno

I'll tell you in a couple of days after I actually have under my *** and I'm shifting on the highway. I'm nervous someone will snake it from me if they know where it's at.
Before you tell me I'm a paranoid kook, about a week ago I had a 6-speed bought at msrp when I called to give the cc # for the deposit, the dealer suddenly found out that someone else had already placed a deposit for it. I was not happy. In fact that dealer is very close to you in the St. Louis area. Weber Chevrolet.
For this one, I have a signed buyers agreement, and a check in hand for the full amount. They gave me the order # and it was due 2 days ago. I'm pretty confident it's mine. It tooks me about a week of searching, calling and haggling with dealers until I got my deal done. What a pain.
It's like a feeding frenzy right now since they started hitting the dealers. Reminds me of the 1978 Corvette Pace Car Debacle.

Okay. I can tell you now. Flew to Collierville, TN this morning and drove it 450 miles home. Nice. Got plenty of looks. Cell phones hanging out windows and such. Too funny. The dealer was Sunrise Chevy GMC. Super nice folks. Nothing better than the feel of a new clutch in a new car.

CONGRATS on your new pace car!!!! Post up some pic's when you can! Btw, they just had the Indy Pace Car Reunion Show at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend. To bad you couldn't have gotten the car sooner, because you could have been in the show. It was a blast indeed. Good luck with the new ride!
