NASA literally uses standing starts.

National Auto Sport Association - nasaproracing.com

when going through all the training and licensing, they taught us to do rolling starts and standing starts. they use both depending on races.

You said "name another road course series", you did not qualify it with

"that the Z/28 may compete in". The discussion had moved to racing in general, and not the Z/28 specifically.

That's bs.

The title of the thread is "How fast will the Z/28 be in 0-60? 1/4 mile?" which then lead to the discussion on whether that was important for a road course track car that would rarely see 1/4 mile action.

Never did it move to "other vehicles".

Re: How fast will the Z/28 be in 0-60? 1/4 mile?

0-60 and 1/4-mile ET/mph are of course important/relevant for this car. Fortunately, it should be a smidge quicker than the Boss 302 based on power/weight.

My RX-7 is a street/road-course car, but still I was interested enough in it's straight-line ability to take it to the drags once, and interested enough in it's higher-speed capabilities to take it to the Texas Mile.

Surely no one thinks that these performance parameters are utterly meaningless for the vast majority of those interested in the Z/28!
