I shook a few hands at the GM Style event...
...I don't have any hesitation when it comes to talking to anyone....so at the GM Style Event, I made my way to shake a few hands of those I wanted to thank for the return of the Camaro. (no, there wasn't any overt security in my way, but there were 'people' keeping their eye's peeled )
I first spoke again, (spoke to him at the 2006 NAIA unveiling) to Ed Welburn and told him what I thought of the Camaro Convertible....reminded him that I too, owned a 1969 and LOVED the 5th gen!
I then walked up to Rick Wagoner and thanked him for his efforts in "righting the ship" at GM and for sticking in there during the onslaught of naysayers.
Right beside him was Bob Lutz, who I thanks for helping to bring back "America's Car"...(my term, not his)
I found Tom Peters a few mminutes later and congratulated him on the beautiful 5th gen convertible...and pleaded with him to keep the convertible top below the body line (when the top is down)...to which he replied that they were trying their best to do just that.
I have to tell you all, EVERY ONE of them seemed genuinely appreciative and humble. I got a hardy handshake in return from each of them.
I left very impressed and very satisfied that GM's future is in good hands.
PS.... A BIG THANK YOU to Scott for the invite and the fabulous evening at his house on Friday evening.

I was also fortunate enough to meet all of them too.
I didn't even know Rick Wagoner & Bob Lutz were there until I got done taking some close pictures of the Camaro convertible, and I turned around to find myself right in front of them hehe.
Shook hands with them and told them another job well done on this car and others, and keep it up. Also gave them my business card. I'll echo what Doug says that they were very appreciative of the comments.
Meeting them and many on the design team too left me feeling very confident that GM is in good hands.

...qouting Doug...

...I completely agree. Anyone we talked to involved with the car seemed sincerley concerned 'to get it right'. That in itself speaks volumes of the team working on the car

Wow! Thanks for posting your experience, Doug. It seems like those folks will stay humble and keep their focus. I know people here are upset at news of Lutz's departure, but GM is much bigger than one man. As long as GM as a whole strives for a level of performance above the competition than things should turn around. You can't take anything for granted in this day and age.
