Good read. Glad to see it won't go back to Canada. Hopefully the CAW won't throw up a block, or attempt to be a thorn in the side when production decisions are revealed.
I talked to several GM people at the show and hotel, and they all are VERY adament that the talks of Bankruptcy along w/ the media reports are complete BS. The media tells you what they want to, what they think the people want to hear b/c the media is anti-american IMO. They would rather have you in a Honda...

Conisidering that Canada has the #1 and #2 quality rated plants in North America, I am really dissapointed to hear that the Camaro may not be possibly built in Canada. I know that one of the Oshawa plants is closing (I think #2), but this hurts the customer. I only want the highest quality plant to build my Camaro, If the highest quality plant was in the US, than I would want it built there. So i really hope Oshawa gets to build the new Camaro. Do not think of this as "Its an 'American' Muscle car, it should be built in the USA, USA, USA, USA". Think of it as it should be build at the best plant.
just my 2 cents

Re: If built, not in Canada per Lutz
I am putting the pieces together why GM announced closing Oshawa II. Think about it this way: Announce the plant is closing and tick off the CAW a little, it gives them something to complain about. Say the new Camaro is being built in the US and CAW throws a fit. Now say "Ok we will find some product for Oshawa II to stay open if we can build the Camaro in the US." The plan has come full circle..

IMO: This is whats commonly know as a, NO BRAINER. GM killed the Camaro to get out of Canada. Why do you think GM tore the plant down?
"Declining sales of the aging Camaro killed production and more than 1,000 jobs at GM’s assembly plant in Ste-Thérèse, Que., in August 2002. GM tore the plant down in 2004."
This reporter is an idiot. The car was KILLED, it did not die a natural death.

wow. you choose that as your first post.
ok, not trying to be mean, but the trend right now appears to be towards rear wheel drive cars. GM has enough fwd cars, that they need the strong rwd cars back.. especially with the revival of the HP wars.
