And nobody does, or at least nobody who can talk about it.

All of the stuff people post about the subject is subjective at this point. There are no public facts.

I know a guy high up in GM and he said that the Z/28 is going to be out 1 year after the car is released (2010 model) and be ~500 HP .

That's what he said . But it's going to weigh a lot less than the GT500, so it doesn't need more power.

It'll weigh alot less as long as it doesn't have a supercharger & intercooler.

If it does, all bets are off.

(the Mustang GT the GT500 is based on weighs almost identical to a stripped LS1 Camaro)

Nah, the Vette guys say an intercooled Kenne Bell w/all the extra hardware weighs between 100-150 pounds.

I cant see how the Camaro will be as porky as the GT500...at least I hope it isnt.

Sure, but you have to add in a stronger rear end and transmission to support the extra power, plus heavier brakes to haul down the heavier car from higher speeds, etc etc etc.

True, but if a 500+ hp Camaro is made it should have all that supporting equip anyway whether its blown or not.

Guys, everything I said was a complete joke!! (although it may turn out to be quite close to the truth?! ) .....

..... let's not start something over nothing! And NO, I don't know some big shot up in GM ... wish I did though!!

Well, you may be closer than you think. The LS9 looks to be a supercharged 6.2L which will hopefully make it into whatever the top dog Camaro is.

Will the hypothetical block of this hypothetical motor be iron or aluminum? Did you consider that extra weight?

I really don't see a need for them to go iron for the block, even if it is supercharged . They're pumping over 500 HP out of the LS7 which has already been punched out to a whopping 7.0L / 427 c.i., so for a smaller 6.2L (somewhere around ~380 c.i.) making "roughly" the same HP, why would it need to be cast iron??

I know a friend's cousin's uncle's dog who used to eat garbage from a high ranking GM exec's trash and he tossed out plans for a 700hp V10 Camaro that weighed 2800lbs and could get 80 mph coasting in 8th gear....

I can't wait!
