Imperial Blue 2SS @ Dominion Chevrolet Richmond, VA

Saw an Imperial Blue 2SS/RS at Dominion Chevrolet today. Looked good.

It was already sold heh. 37000 was msrp. First time for me seeing it in person. Of course the black 09 Z06 sitting next to it was beautiful too.

The salesman there were kinda douchebags though. The corvette had the windows rolled down and I asked if I could sit in it and they wouldnt even go get the keys to unlock the door. I'm thinking well F you too. I'm only 21 but I have enough money in the bank right now to buy a corvette if I wanted too so its pretty gay that they obviously judged that I was young and probably "couldnt afford one".

Capital Chevrolet also in Richmond,VA does not have theirs anymore. The owner came and got it yesterday. Apparently it was a Bumblebee look a like.

The salesman there told me that they wouldnt have one to drive for a while but he also said "Shoot man, you don't need to drive this thing before you buy it, its fast!" and I'm thinking. Are you Fing kidding me? I would never spend 40 grand on a car without driving it new or used...

So the last stop was Whitlow Chevrolet in Midlothian, VA and they had no camaros and they said it would be 6 months before they could get one that would be able to be test driven.

So I asked to drive a used 05 corvette they had there with a sticker of 37,995. The guy was like, well, are you a serious buyer? I was like..I'm not buying today, but I am a serious buyer.

So he let me drive it. Then I asked him to write up an out the door price and they tried to tell me 37,995 was a steal because it had been marked down from 46,995. So out the door it was about 40,000. It had 16,000 miles on it and the manager told me that he had 41,800 in it. I felt like LMAO because i used to sell cars at a dodge dealership and unless he was prepared to show me their invoice on the computer Id have to call him out on that.

But long story short. Dealers want all the money they can get, but don't want to let us young people drive their cars. I'm almost 22 and I've been smart with my money since I started working. I also have a very good job right now which I am lucky to have.

Anyone else having this problem while shopping for corvettes/camaros?

Both Capital and Dominion Chevrolet's are on broad st.

Capital is down near downtown richmond and Dominion is in short pump right past the short pump town center before you get to 288

sounds like you had fun at the dealership

I was 16 when I first attempted at buying a car..... what an adventure. Lets just say I went into the dealership looking to buy a E36 BMW M3, and left not only empty handed but I was cursing at the manager of the dealership.

But in all honesty, if the sales men think you don't have money thats a good thing. You never, when trying to bargin, want the other person to know how much you have.

Thats how I got the skyline for only a couple g's

Bought my first new Camaro in '67 from Dominion, they were a**holes back then and have never bought there again. Whitlow is about two miles from my house and I would not buy from them if they were the last Chevy dealer left in VA. When I'm ready to buy I'll probably use Heritage down in Chester.

I'll have to do that as I get to Charlottesville quite often and shop there for things that are hard to find in Richmond. I used to service some retail accounts of a product line for a large part of VA and indeed the businesses in Charlottesville were very different from the other areas of the state.

Yeah you would think with Chevy dealers closing left and right and an uncertain future they would be more willing to deal but these dealerships seem to think it's still 1999. I was pricing out a Cobalt SS sedan a few weeks ago and the dealers were trying to gouge me on a car that isn't even gonna be made for 2010 due to low sales. I almost felt bad for them but the prices they were offereing off the bat were ridiculous and insulting. Since they weren't serious I just said screw it and I'll just wait and buy one used for $3k less. $25k for a Cobalt SS, give me a break! I offered $22k and said I would buy that week but no takers.

I used to sell cars at Mechanicsville Dodge before they closed.

Judging a customer by their looks was the worst thing you could do.

You never know who has deep pockets so you cant judge looks or age. That was their mistake, now they wont be getting my business.

Whats wrong with whitlow? They seemed nice - but didnt want to budge on price.

Buy from Heritage in Chester, VA

Whitlow will never see a dime of my money again. They do not have the Tech or training to service what they sell. My last run in with them was when I asked them to replace all 4 tires on my 04 Vette. They tried to sell me 4 new TPS units, which are good for 10 years, then they tried to sell me a new remote door lock receiver because they could not get the TPS units to communicate with the cars' computer.

I made the mistake thinking that of all service facilities, A Chevy Dealer would have been able to do something as simple as replace a tire without screwing up the car, the tire TPS, or the customer.

I can tell you that the folks at Heritage are top of the class, and honest in their dealings.
