IROC Camaro?

IROC Camaro?
Currently the IROC series still uses 02 Trans Am bodies (well, sort of). Is this because GM is still sponsoring it, or is there currently no vehicle sponsor, and IROC just chooses to continue using them?
The reason that I ask is that I'm just thinking out loud here and wondering if the IROC series will once again use the Camaro as their vehicle of choice, and if so, I wonder if GM would bring back the IROC-Z.
I sure hope so.

Re: IROC Camaro?
We're not gonna see an "IROC" option on the 5th gen. GM has to pay royalties to use it. Why send money out?
There's plenty of heritage Chevy can use on the 5th gens that they already own from a patent/trademark standpoint.

Re: IROC Camaro?
There is no manufacturer sponsor in IROC and hasn't been since 2002.
Don't hold your breath on a resurrection of the IROC-Z. I don't think GM's too interested in paying royalties to IROC to use the name. They're more interested in competition against other makes than a fleet of identical cars.
Now, if they were production based like early IROC was, that's a different story.

Re: IROC Camaro?
Please leave it dead. It's a really a dumb series. I bought my IROC in spite of the stupid name. Thank heavens it still had a Z/28 emblem on the dashboard.
