I fully agree that a 1LE should be offered. Where I disagree with you is what it should include.

I'd say start with a base V6 or V8.
Limit options.
Substitute:
- stiffer suspension bushings
- higher rate springs with lower ride height
- stiffer sway bars
- really good posi & maybe a higher numerical rear gear
- good shocks (Bilstein?) but not top end expensive shocks

As an aside, did you buy your 99 Z28 1LE new or used? I think a problem with the package is while many would like one, few are willing to pay a premium new car price for it. I know I'd be reluctant.

Your a little off on the Solstice ZOK package. It includes:
- springs
- stiffer sway bars
- chassis brace
- Onstar delete
- on my '07 it also forced ABS and Limited slip diff

Coilovers aren't adjustable unless you consider removing the shipping perch an "adjustment".
Steering ratio doesn't change

IMO there needs to be a 1LE option, especially on a tank like this. But IMO it should only be available on the Z28.

it might be a good handling PIG, but it's still a PIG. there's no way around that.

Opinions are what they are...

How do you describe the car in your sig?

I agree with the original list except for a few items.

Sound deadening. There is very little in any Camaro to start with. Keep what comes with it.

A/C delete. Yes. Easier to work under the hood too.

SS brake line are a great idea as are the manual everything.

I would like to add coupe only, no T-top available, and must be manual transmission. I would like to see the 13:1 steering ratio return that the C4 Z51's had. My GTA with it's 12.7:1 steering ratio is great too. Anything over 15 is too high, unless you're doing 200 mph top speed tests.

Something like a GMMG exhaust right from the factory would be neat too.

P.S. Larger fuel tank too.

Dodge is doing this with the Challenger, but only as a race car. It's not street legal, and nobody would buy this car. I'd rather have the Z/28 with enough engine to move a real car.

1LE could be a track-ready Camaro, not for street use?
But if that was teh case, there would be no need for this thread.

Z28 needs to be a lighter SS. 1LE should be a harsher package.

I think the OP was on the right track. 1LE would be for racing, but still be street legal. This isnt just a 30-40k Z28, this would be a race-ready Camaro that just so happens to hit the streets.
1LE could be less sound insulation, magnaride shocks, 6spd manual only, no rear seats, as well as some carbon fiber pieces. Price increase would be around 5k over the Z28.

Not if you take out the airbags and lighten the structure/panels.

Well who the hell would do that unless you were to make it a race-only body-in-white type car for racing only, not for street use.

That's what Dodge is doing, and I think that's what the OP suggested.

CF body panels are VERY expensive. I would be willing to bet that CF Fenders and Hood would cost GM WELL in excess of 5K so offering them in a package is almost certainly going to make said package cost more than 5K

Not pannels per say, but maybe a hood, or some cf splitter or defuser in the back. Not talking ZR1 extensive.

Evidence? Link? What durability problems are there with the LS9?

That's funny... I must have missed that particular demand. I, for one, have always said that Camaro should be small. I guess I wasn't loud enough...

A post like this is worthless unless you describe what you would expect in a 1LE package.
