Justifiable Purchase

This is what I was also wondering. If you have the green to buy a Mercedes, then fuel prices shouldnt be a huge concern IMO.

I love the Solstice and Sky as well. I'm even considering a targa top GXP when it comes out. But basing the purchases of sports cars strictly off of fuel economy is kinda silly. If fuel economy is the number one concern, theres plenty of fuel efficient smaller commuter cars out there to ease the pump pain.

GM along with its counterpart Ford has been hit big in recent months with poor sales. GM closed down countless plants and laid many of people off as well. Fuel price has killed a big part of their sales, thus the intention of 4 cylinder Camaros.
You can count on V8 Camaros not making the sales, I doubt V6 will do any better. I say this, for at $7.00 a gallon, consumer will go with 4 Cylinders. I am not very pleased with the V8s for they consume fuel very poorly with today's engine...... not good MPG is what I'm pointing at (I own a new Pontiac G8 and 2001 WS6 Tran AM parked in the garage that I'm comparing too.... I also own a 4 banger Saturn and a V8 Expedition).
If your new Camaro is not a daily driver, why bother ownership? If it's your daily driver, you will feel it emptying your pocket book at the pump. Either way, it's a loser.
I missed my 2000 Trans Am that I traded in for the G8, but quite please driving the 4 Cylinder Saturn at the moment. I only fuel up every 3 to 4 weeks.
I had big intentions to purchase the Camaro upon release, but with the current gas price, it's not worth it just for that small piece of driving excitement. No matter who saids what, we know what the interior will look like as production is about underway. I can't believe how many of you are such die hard for this vehicle that nothing will change your mind and interest.
We don't have to mention whether the interior is great or not.... we just need to question whether it's justifiable for $30,000 plus. I feel the design is not worth that much.

By the way, a 6 Banger does not get you any better per gallon over an 8... this was a tough decision for me to make when purchasing the G8 over a G6. I wanted Horsepower over the 2 mpg difference. Owning one of these 8 bangers will be like the wealthy owning a Lambo V12, pulling it out for a cruise once in a while from the garage.

I'm glad that you have realized that a new Camaro will not fit YOU. This will prevent you from coming on here and posting about how bad an experience you are having with a vehicle that does not fit your needs. Enjoy your 4 cylinder sports car. I'm sure it will be a fine automobile.
I continue to believe that the Camaro will fit my needs and sensibilities just fine.

The government is definitely doing everything they can to keep things from looking as bad as they are... but our economy is in a bad place.
That being said... the fuel economy on the sky/solstice isnt all that great, its like 24/27, so for a tiny little car that costs as much as a camaro or more, i dont see the benefit.
This winter is when things are really going to go south when people are forced to decide whether to eat or heat their homes... its not going to be pretty.
