Lack of Power

Looks like I walked into a cat fight.
Anyway, if I were the original poster, I would have a FEW rematches with the son in the T/A. (which I think he said was a 6M ?) If so, then the son is a pretty good driver to launch and beat the Auto Camaro. But a few races and he might wins some and loose some. The Camaro is new after all and new to him too. It will get faster with time, but not 8 lenths faster.

I have never seen anyone state that one street race is a "qualitative, controlled test." Was he spinning that run? Did he simply forget to turn off any electronic nannies (like traction control) that may have been bogging him down? Again, if he is still unconvinced that the car is making 400 HP as he originally stated, he should take his car to a dyno day, lay out the $40 or whatever for 3 pulls and see if it is making sensible numbers for the 400 HP rating. He stated that the car is "not making 400 HP", so a couple of dyno pulls is the most qualitative and controlled way to find out. My guess is that it is.
The bottom line is that an LS2 GTO probably IS quicker - same HP rating, lighter weight. I don't like it either, but I have personally long stated that the 5th Gen is too heavy. Looking at approximate pound-per-HP ratings
LS2 GTO 3750/400 = 9.375
LS1 F-body 3550/350 (realistic) = 10.14
L99 5th Gen 3900/400 = 9.75
Ahh, hyperbole and inflammatory comments on the interwebz is fun!

2) The auto Camaro is a slow POS

I KNOW this is an old Thread but DAM, I had No IDEA that the L99 Cars were THAT SLOW!!!
Dam a New 5.0 Automatic runs ~ 12.9-13.10, and I;ve seen a Few Stock L99 Cars in the 14's at Cecil County Dragway...Dam!!
fwiw, I WAS Considering a New Automatic Camaro, I guess it's a 5.0 Now....
