For the last time.. it doesn't look like a Mustang !

Personally, I think the new Mustang and the Camaro concept look much more similar than I was expecting. However, the Camaro is the clear styling winner of the two in my opinion.

I just showed it to my wife and she said "looks like a Mustang" I told her it didn't, but she still thinks it does, and she likes Camaro's. I hope that the general public does not share this view.

...Now if they were VERY difficult to tell apart, that'd be different. But IMHO there are plenty of styling cues on the 5gen Camaro for those who really care, to tell it from a Mustang.
BTW - it's nothing really new, regular folks seeing similarities between the two cars. Enthusiasts can typically tell them apart

Yes it does look like a Mustang. The Third and 4th generation looked streamlined like a shark. The 5th concept looks boxy like a mustang. The uninitiated could easily confuse the two.
Probably the reason for this is the boxy mustang far outsold the 4th gen Camaro. So the new Camaro looks more like a Mustang. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Re: For the last time.. it doesn't look like a Mustang !
My mom and cousin both said it looked like a Mustang.
though I think it looks like a futuristic '69 Camaro, I see where they get their opinions from. Its upright, got the scoops, same basic pony car proportions and well isnt as streamlined as they are probably expecting it to be. My mom who owned my '77 back in the 70's commented on how camaros are supposed to be sleek and "swoopy" as opposed to upgright and boxy. She claimed this car looked like the mix between a Crossfire and a Mustang.
I honestly believe part of this is because the general public is not as familiar with the shape of a first generation Camaro. I bet that if the average Joe could even name them when shown pictures, they would get a 60's Nova, Camaro and Chevelle all easily confused when shown pictures. On the otherhand, I am willing to bet that they would identify a 1st generation Mustang correctly 99% of the time.

Re: For the last time.. it doesn't look like a Mustang !
I've owned four Camaros and haven't ever owned a Mustang. When the newer Mustang came out, I really liked them, but in my mind for a little while I called them Camaros! To me, that was a compliment to the 'stang, because in a slight way, it reminded me of the older Camaros. Seems like if a person likes 'pony cars' or sports cars or whatever you call them, and they're not real 'car smart' they might see similarities, and have the same either like or dislike for them both. Some people likes sports cars, some don't.

Lets not forget that there are people out there that could not tell the difference between the Camaro & Firebird as well...
This is just a formula for the cars that are comming out, a more traditional coupe style car and it's beautiful!

All I know is Mustangs are butt ugly, If this looked liked a mustang to you, you apparently havent done your homework, Once they get built, there will be not problem identifying the car for what it is CAMARO, not a ripoff of a Mustang, GM may be dumb but not that dumb. This car is much sexier than a mustang....just my opinion
