Is there anything to this Bowling Green Stuff?
After Hotrod Power Tour I toured the Bowling Green plant and during the tour our guide pointed out a large area of the plant that had been used to make the XLR Caddy and was now unused.
Or is this just someone's wishful thinking?

Automotive supplier Magna Car Top Systems will invest more than $950,000 and add 30 jobs to expand its plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
The plant, which already produces convertible top systems for the Bowling Green-made Chevrolet Corvette, will retool and add new equipment to make soft tops for the new Chevrolet Camaro, according to a news release from Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear’s office.
Magna Car Tops, which currently has 18 employees, will begin making the Camaro tops in the first quarter of 2011, according to the release.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has granted Magna Car Tops preliminary approval for up to $662,800 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentives can be earned over a 10-year period through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments.
Magna Car Tops is a division of Magna Steyr, an operating group of Aurora, Canada-based Magna International Inc. (NYSE: MGA).

Similar to what Jason posted, but with a few more details:
~~~~~~~~
Aug. 24--Two companies announced plans Monday that will create 90 new local jobs.
An expansion at Magna Car Top Systems will result in 30 jobs in the production of convertible tops for the Chevrolet Camaro, while Afni said it will add 60 jobs to its call center near Greenwood Mall.
Magna CTS, a supplier of car roof systems that constructs the soft tops for the Chevrolet Corvette at its Bowling Green facility, will invest more than $950,000 in new equipment, retooling and modifications to its facility at Mitch McConnell Way in the South Central Kentucky Industrial Park.
Augmenting the company's investment will be up to $662,800 in tax benefits preliminarily approved by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority through the Kentucky Business Investment Program.
"I can tell you that it's a great honor and a privilege for the area, particularly for our staff at this facility," said Gunter Fritz, managing director for Magna CTS. "We are aware that the automotive industry requires collaboration to stay competitive."
Gov. Steve Beshear, on hand to make the announcement Monday, talked about public-private collaborations that the state, through its business incentive programs, has been making with several employers since the KEDFA was established last year.
In Warren County alone, 17 economic development projects were announced last year entailing an investment of more than $230 million and the creation of 1,300 jobs, many of those developments aided through KEDFA.
"Today we commemorate another tangible sign of our progress," Beshear said about efforts to reduce unemployment in the state, alluding to the 30 new jobs at Magna CTS. "That's 30 families who will be better equipped to survive this economic recession."
Magna CTS currently employs 18 people at its Bowling Green facility, which opened in 2003, and is the parent company of Bowling Green Metalforming.
The company is a component of Magna International, a Canada-based company that also has six plants in Europe and one plant each in Japan and Mexico.
Magna CTS spokesman Scott Warden said that the expansion entails about 25 jobs in production and five other positions in various capacities.
Production of the new convertible tops for the Camaro is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2011, Warden said.
Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon lauded Magna for bringing new jobs into the area.
"We appreciate that Magna has been here, endured through the tough times and is committed to stay here through the good times," Buchanon said. "Magna has been an important part of this community for many years."
Re: Latest news on convertible?
Ok...now I am mad. Waiting list for two years for a ragtop. First to order from my dealership, and still not arrived. They got a black one Friday they offered me, because the first run is stuck in leaky top ville. Anybody heard when the first runs will ship?
