I don't claim to know one way or another, but I have to respectfully disagree that anyone knows what engine a car named Z28 would have outside of the core Camaro team.

Here's where he said it originally(post 128)...but looking under his name it shows him as a "BANNED Moderator"?

That's weird. I dunno what the deal with that is. You never know...some sites throw anything out there pretending it is fact just to get traffic, and the second half of the problem is that people take it as gospel and repeat it elsewhere and then look silly for buying into it.

Re: The latest word on the Z28 nameplate...
Unfortunately that seems to be Chevy's attitude on the Camaro, wait and see what Ford does then build a car to compete with it in 3 years. Why can't the Z28 be supercharged? Why does a car built today have to copy the formula from 40 years ago? I did see an awesome 1st gen Z/28 2 weekends ago up near Greer SC that had brand new tags on it from NC, it was black and sounded meaner than anything I have ever heard in all of my years. The guy in front of him and me behind him both gave him thumbs up, it was wicked, deep and powerful sounding. He gunned it a few times and it didn't look to be stock by the rapid rate of acceleration.

Re: The latest word on the Z28 nameplate...
Just read a post on another site with an IM quote from a "high up" at GM stating that GM is "still working on something" and "I know u no likey ZL1 for a name, but remember what Z28 stood for....homologated 302 high rev SCCA trans am series track car. so step back and think what could happen here…" to be exact. I don't wanna fuel the fire, but would love to see the name return to battle the 302 Boss. Let's give credit to Ford for keeping the bowtie boys honest. It's a great car...if you can get your hads on one for a reasonable price.
