Re: Live Unveiling of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro
Holy crap was not expecting that. I got me outa my seat cheering like a kid. Boy did they keep that hid well or what?
Overall I recant my negativity on the new design, seeing many more angles, perspectives and HD video, this doesnt look so bad afterall. Im still not down with execution of the hood vent though.
It is nice to see the wonderful, comfortable and sweet looking Recaro CS model seats as optional. Its about time.

Wow, nicely played Chevrolet. While I wouldn't consider 3700-3800 pounds "light" for a pony car, particularly a naturally aspirated one, I'll take it considering what they're working with.
If I was interested in a 5th Gen it would have been the 1LE....and this is just a much better version.
EDIT: Just read that the car will not include a stereo system or A/C? Hmm, sounds like a bigger Cobra R. But I'm glad to see the Z28 name back again.

The leaks for LS7 pointed to this happening but I'm still very surprised that GM did it. It's like they took an order form from the enthusiasts and built the car everyone wanted.
This will keep excitement high for the last few model years of the 5th Gen.

EDIT: Just read that the car will not include a stereo system or A/C? And it's expected to be 100 pounds lighter than the ZL1 which puts it more like right around the 4000# mark right? My enthusiasm has been tempered a bit. Sounds like a bigger Cobra R. But I'm glad to see the Z28 name back again.

I don't really care for the Lumina-esque tail lights. But it's still a good looking car.

yeah, they said a/c is an option rather than standard.
like the front fascia of the z/28 - the ss one just looks meh.
i'm a fan of the vent on the hood
am NOT a fan of the tail lights tho. they look like they came off a honda prelude

Re: Live Unveiling of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro
Some cool notes:
Increased grip: The Z/28 is capable of 1.05 g in cornering acceleration, due to comprehensive chassis revisions
Increased stopping power: the Z/28 features Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes capable of 1.5 g in deceleration, and consistent brake feel, lap after lap
Reduced curb weight: The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1, with changes ranging from lightweight wheels to thinner rear-window glass
Like the original, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is offered only with a manual transmission. In a nod to modern convenience, air-conditioning is available, but only as an option.
"We set out to make the fastest road-racing Camaro possible that was still street-legal,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “While the Camaro ZL1 offers exceptional performance on the street, the drag strip, and the track, the Z/28 is entirely focused on the track performance. The Z/28 will be too track-focused for most drivers, but offers road-racers one of the most capable track cars ever offered from an automaker.”
