No. If the photographers took the pics and they own them, then they have the right to do with as they wish provided they did not trespas or obtain the job to get them. If the pics werent even taken by outside photographers, but stolen all together then it was really unethical. It is up to GM to keep their secrets away from the press within reason. If they are hoping fences breaking into buildings ,getting jobs, sliping cameras into GM buildings to take pics that is unethical. Stealing and breaking the confidentiality contracts Im sure they signed assuring GM giving their word they would not let the pictures out them that is unethical.

Now if it were me, and this had been a legal spy shot I had taken, I would have photo shoped it as a best guess the way Hot Rod Mag did to what the finished product would be.
