And it is supposed to have more power. Does this mean we should expect this in the first year Camaro or is it too early??? I would think the LS3 coming out for 2008 model, would mean it is available for 2009 and that should equal a nice 425+ HP in the Camaro

I never expected to see the LS2 in the production Camaro. I always saw it having the same engines as the Corvette... although possibly detuned with slightly less hp.

I thought the LS3 was the future... for now.

Remember is still bread from the LS1's lineage. Its just more refined and more fuel efficient.

The LS1 didnt stand alone for 8 years. The LS6 came in, what, 2001 or 2002?

I believe it was 02 in the ZO6. I wouldn't be surprised to see the LS3 or a detuned version in the new Camaro either, we definitely knew that the LS2 mill would probably be retired by then.

They are changing out engines so fast now. I mean we had the LS1 base in the vette for 8 years, the LS2 saw 3 years, and is already getting replaced! Not that I mind, by all means, update everything! But I hope that it offers more than just another 25 HP with the added .2L of displacement. Anyone know if this engine is special in other ways, IE E85, etc..?

2000GTP- The LS6 was launched in 385hp guise in the '01 ZO6
Ryan- I'd imagine the LS3 will get the same features the current 6.2 has in the Escalade-Variable valve timing. I doubt the 'Vette will get active fuel mgmt, since it's a performance car and all.

Do ya really think they would release an update engine with less power?

Considering it hasn't been released yet, who knows. But when it does come out, the aftermarket will be quick to respond just like it did for the LS1,LS6,LS2, and LS7.
