low production hi power Camaro
If GM hold off on the production of the High power Camaro, don't you guys think it will hurt sales? The problem is that they need some money coming into get a project going on a Camaro with well over 450hp. But...I for one, will not buy the first model base v8 because I would like to see what GM has in store. The further problem with that is that if I believe the high end Camaro is over priced, or hear things about engine problems, it would keep me from getting a Camaro all together. By the time I am able to see what other folks say about the high end Camaro, the body style will be getting phased out.

If they can get to production by late 2007 I think the hi-po model could hold off, if we are looking at closer to mid to late 2009 I think they should just launch it with everything else

2009 is too long for me. I don't care what anyone says.
BTW, 2007...the ls7 will getting phased out of the z06. and as an engine that old, it is the least I would expect to come in the car.
I'll know in two week whether or not I will be able to afford one then, I guess I should just wait.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude... although if that's too long, buy something else now and pick up a used Camaro later on down the line if you'd like.
If the V8 doesn't come out at first, I'm going to be putting some serious thought to getting the V6 and trading up later after the V8 is released.

Re: low production hi power Camaro
[SPECULATION=] if the car is released at the end of CY07, i have no problem waiting 18 months to see the performance model. this way it gives GM time to work the bugs out of the first year cars and move some units off the lots to show them the car is well recieved. that should put the performance model out right about the time the Mustang gets a redesign and Ford pulls their top dog out for a few months.[/SPECULATION]

Re: low production hi power Camaro
The trick is, the "normal" (like a Z28) Camaro's should be a great deal and value itself overall in performance, quality, refinement. It should sell on its own virtue.
although I would be shocked if GM did something like release the Camaro without a V8 model at first.. Or severly hobbled the first V8..

Re: low production hi power Camaro
Won't there be a V6 AND V8 right off the bat the first year? Maybe not a high-end V8, but a comparable one to the Mustang GT?
I'm not greedy, either; if I can get a decent powered V8 that is comparable to the Mustang GT, I'll be happy.
