Re: LS7 vs. Supercharged LS2
LS7 all the way or its replacement. To Supercharge your personal LS2 or whatever is great. To weigh down a production vehicle with a Super charger is quite another. This would make a perfect SS with gobs of power but weight distrubution isnt a issue. but NOT a Z28. Being naturally aspirated lighter, derived from the lemans motor are huge selling points.
Infact
SS LS2
SS LS2 Superchargerd (throw back to the 396 front heavy gobs of power weight distribution be damned
Z28 LS7
Yes before you crap on my point, I realize it will be their replacements by that time so please dont do it if you are going to use this reason...

Re: LS7 vs. Supercharged LS2
Pulley and a tune for me thanks. After watching all my friends with 03/04 Cobra's lay down spectacular numbers on the dyno and at the track I couldn't pass up an SC LS motor. N/A is cool but is way to expensive to see the numbers you would get from a blower.

Re: LS7 vs. Supercharged LS2
Ok……. well here is the real question.....
What if the supercharged motor is roughly $4000 less than the NA one?
Say the SC model base prices at $37,000 and the NA goes for $41,000?
Who here would pony up thousands more for the same amount of power?
It makes a better business case to go with the SC V8.
It’s real easy to just say “I’d get the LS7!”……
But money speaks a lot louder…

Re: LS7 vs. Supercharged LS2
I realize that the supercharged LS2 would cost less than the LS7, but if the tables were turned I would still get the supercharged motor if it were $4000 more than a N/A motor with the same amount of power.

Re: LS7 vs. Supercharged LS2
Why would the supercharged motor be so much cheaper? I know the LS7 contains some lightweight, more exotic pieces....but I'd have to wonder about a supercharged V8 model with the same power costing $4,000 or more less. The supercharger costs money, the intercooler costs money, where are we getting the tremendous price difference? At that point, forget forged anything on the internals of the LS2....which could pretty much blow the whole "pully and tuning" premise out of the water.
