ls9 blower now available

I don't see it on GMPerformanceParts.com, but they're usually not very quick to update the website, and the LSXTV article says it just came out on 7/15.

Note to the OP: when copying and pasting links from other forums, you have to right click and copy the link location (or go to the page and copy the location from the location bar). Forums generally abbreviate the actual displayed text when the URL is long, and so you get the "..." in the middle, which results in a non-functioning link if you copy and paste it somewhere else.

Not that I know of.

The LS9 and LS3 are very different motors besides the obvious supercharger. I would wager that that the LSA is much closer to LS3 internally than the LS9 is.

To convert an LS3 to an LS9 you'd pretty much need to change everything (pistons, valvetrain, heads, etc.).

You can use your block, but it'll have to have some machine work done to it (bore it out and press in a set of cast-iron cylinder liners), and then finish the bores with a deck plate bolted down. I believe that the lifters, pushrods, and rockers are the same, and I'm pretty sure the LS3 engine computer can handle the task (a tune would be mandatory).

the crank shaft is differnt too? guess its more different than i thought. and of that list of parts what doesthe lsa share with the ls9? or does it have more in common with the ls3?

The kit is a bolt on for all Gen III or IV motors that have LS3 style heads. Sort of like any roots style supercharger kit except it comes from GM and is based on parts from the LS9. It doesn't turn any motor into an LS9, it simply adapts the supercharger and heat exchanger to your motor. JakeRobb's list is pretty extensive... doubt anyone would make a kit to turn an LS3 into an LS9, they would rather sell you the whole motor

As far as the supercharger kit, all the parts that it comes with are in the link below:

This is like any other supercharger kit, there is nothing magical. You should upgrade your motor accordingly. You need to delete AFM and cam phasing on motors so equipped (the L99 for example).

i know its not a ls9. its a supercharger.doesnt the ls9 blower have the intercooler on the top of it? isnt that different from something like the magna charger? doesnt the magnacharger have a front mount intercooler?

No, but I believe the question was what would it take to convert an LS3 into an LS9.

If all you want to do is install the supercharger, the fuel system, the belt/pulleys (or a custom belt/pulley set of your own), and a tune should do the trick.

If you want to run it without blowing up and with factory-grade reliability, you'd need the pistons, sleeves, water pump, head gaskets, main caps, oil pump, and piston oil squirters.

If you want to have the same 638hp that the ZR1 motor has, you're going to need to do most of the remaining stuff on my original list. You could get away without doing the coils and valve covers -- those are purely a cosmetic difference.

I didn't read the Camaro5 link in detail to determine exactly which of the above parts are included in the kit.
