How is a turbocharged, built-for-boost, limited production motor going to be any cheaper than the far more available and simpler "high value" 3.9 V6 which will make similar power?

It wouldn't be.

WEll, he suggested a 2.0, dual cam, direct injection turbo charged motor, but yeah, he did. I don't agree with the suggestion, based simply on cost; and the fact that a Camaro should not have a 4 cyl. engine in it, ever again!

Re: Lutz, Camaro and global RWD....

Personally I dont like the idea of the 3.9L either, at least as much as an ecotec. It'll make probably 260hp or so by the Camaro's debut but get gas mileage equal to or worse than the current LS2 and/or the LSx motor we'll get when the car comes out as the V8 is making 140 or so more hp. The base V6 motor should not only make 250ish or so hp but get good mileage too. That would justify DOD on the base too or a different and better motor. We keep talking about the performance variant and throwing out there once in a while that the V6 has to be done right then work up to the performance models that WE'LL be buying. Camaro has to be practical right? So we need an efficient motor as the base so the average commuter isnt turned off by fuel efficiency. Not to say the 3.9L is horrid but it needs to be improved upon.

I agree. If they quad-coupe the GTO, call it G8 and give it new identity. If they do not wish to try and make a large coupe GTO then let it die again and keep it there.

I also agree with the Caddy coupe and convertable. These are big holes in Caddy's lineup that needed to be filled like yesterday...
