To many people want the new camaro!

Just settle down a minute. The Camaro won't be available until early 2009... and for many of us wanting the top dog... another 12 to 18 months after that.
Most of those pretender Camaro enthusiasts will have latched on to some other vehicle by that time. They're like my 21 year old stepson who chances his opinions on cars every six months or so. There will be plenty available for every enthusiast who can afford to buy one, and they won't be a dime a dozen on the road.

The more Camaro's Chevy sells the better it is for GM and us enthusiasts who want the Z/28 or SS. Money and interest drive the vehicle engineering and development. Heck if they have a hard time building them fast enough and profits roll in I think somewhere in the GM ranks someone could make a case for a super Camaro to celebrate with whatever engine the Z06 or Blue Devil Vette has at the time. Too many Camaro's on the road isn't a problem it's the solution.

I think it is awesome that people who didn't care about Camaros now are a fan. That means success! The more sales, the longer they make the car, the more affordable aftermarket parts out there which means more fun and opportunity for everyone and this car. If people buy it, that makes them owners and not posers.
The fifth gen needs to move into the 6th gen and beyond, and not become the 4th gen. Only sales will keep that from happening.
On the other side, I think that I can't fairly say that it is okay for me to want one but no one else should. We can't really have it both ways.
BTW, I get the fact that I can't afford a C6 Z06 or better rubbed in my face nearly every day. That's life for ya. Again, can't have it both ways.

They can pose all they want . Fact of the matter is, Mustangs sell. Honda Civics sell. Those are probably 2 of the biggest "poser" cars around (not by all owners, but by "those types"). But the last time I checked, selling more cars was a GOOD THING for GM, its employees, and us "real" (if you want to call it that) enthusiasts who would like the car to come back and STAY with us longer than a couple model years.
In fact, I hope EVERYBODY goes out and buys a "Bumblebee" Camaro (or look-a-like ) because they saw the Transformers movie and loved it, so then my black w/silver stripes Camaro will stand out amongst the crowd!!

While I get that you want it to be an exclusive club you're in, being a camaro enthusiast when fewer and fewer are each day, the trend appears to have bottomed out and is coming back up. This is a good thing.
Like it has already been mentioned, more sales means the car sticks around - we, as enthusiasts, definitely want this!
You'll still be unique as you have, and continue to be a camaro enthusiast. Many people buying this car is quite alright! It doesn't mean they are going to mod it, like many on here will do. It also doesn't automatically make them an enthusiast. You're still one in a million bud, and we still love you here
You'll still be able to tell the people that appreciate the car when you're at a stoplight, pull up to another one, they look over, examine your vehiclle, and give you a thumbs up, whether you're in your 4th gen or 5th gen. That's the true test Let the rest of them buy to boost sales, and then go on to their new cars 1-2 years later.
While I see your point, I can't manage to see it as a bad thing.

I'm hearing it way to often now from people all over saying they are "gonna get" the new Camaro and I'm beginning to think there is going be fleets of them on the road once they come out. People at work who've never really cared about camaro's before all of a sudden are huge fans and are counting the days til it's release. To many posers are going to be driving them and people like me who wish they could afford it are going to have it rubbed in their faces. Anyone else hearing from people who never talked about camaros or even cars for that matter saying they are "gonna get" the new camaro?

I can't believe this is even a topic. If you told me 5 yrs ago that this would be a topic I wouldn't have believed you.
I remember in 2002 when everyone was blaming poor sales on the death of the 4th gen.
