Models, variations and price
Hi Camaro fans, I hope everyones summer is going good. I have thought about the new Camaro and model variations alot lately. So heres me question to you... how many models of Camaro do you think will come out? What variations are you assuming will make the cut and what prices are you guesstimating for these models-
As of now I assume this is what I'll be seeing- Coupe=2009 Convert=2010
Base 3.9 v-6 camaro- $20,500 2009
Base+ 3.6 dohc v-6-$24,500 2009
Mid 5.3 v-8 camaro-$27,500 2009
Z28 6.2 v-8 camaro-$35,500 2010
Saleen Camaro Extreme-$43,500 2010
Baldwin Motion Camaro-$47,500 2010
Yenko S/C camaro-$45,500 2011-12
Roush Camaro-$40,500 2010
Mallet Performance camaro-$42,500 2010
Callaway Camaro-$50,000 2012
Anyway just some educated guesses, have a nice week-rob

Howdy,
This thread is pretty much considered the best idea of a semi-accurate estimate of price ranges and option packages. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=490016
I'm personally hoping for a mid-range V8 trim package (I would love a V8 powered RS with AFM and stripe package with hideaway lights) for somewhere just under 30k.
Good luck to me!

So an LS3 is coming in 2009? What model will get it? That is news to me I seriously never knew that. Scott is the only one who truly knows when and what is coming Id think but telling us these details is another question. From my buddies sources inside GM all i've heard when asking about power for the 2009 Camaro is this. 2009=v-6 and maybe a small displacemant v-8=5.3 base maybe. Z28 will be out in 2010 and will be GT500's rival. LS3 6.2=2010 and possible 7.0 v-8 for the top models. This may be all wrong, take it with a grain of salt... but that is what I've heard so far and no my buddies source isn't a salesman.

If I cannot get at least a 6.2 at intro I will give up my spot on the list at the dealer....or sell it on EBay....and thats a promise. That would not be a good way for GM to introduce this vehicle. Its supposed to be a high performance car....not a grocery getter which would give the appearance of being modified to provide the image of a high performance car in its second year via the installation of a larger engine. And a 5.3 does not give the image of a high performance car unless they're gonna put a blower on it (yea right.....). Don't mess up this intro GM....the stakes are too high in these times of high fuel prices and increased competetion from Ford and Chrysler.

so why would Chevy be telling us the 2009 Coupe is going to get at least 400 hp (I know its not getting an LS2...) and then only have a v6 and small v8? I think the coupe will have the LS3 in the 2009 model year, I see no reason why not. The corvette already has the LS3 for 2008 ...
And hasn't it been true for 1993-2002 that when the corvette got a new motor the Camaro would get it a year later: 1992 the Corvette got the LT1, and the Camaro got it for 93'. And in 1997 the Corvette got the LS1, Camaro got it a year later....just doesn't make any sense for GM not to drop the LS3 in for 2009 since the Corvette already has it. It would jeapordize GM sales to bring back the Camaro and not offer the most performance and horsepower they possibly could. And as far as a 5.3...weaksauce unless they destroke it (302) and put it into a corner carver..whether it be ss or Z28. Make it like a 69' Z28 with road course handling and lots of top end power.

I have no doubt that the Camaro will be AT MINIMUM sporting a detuned version of the LS3, my guess is around 410-420 hp.
But i would also go as far as to say that to keep $$$ down, they might just toss in the 430 hp LS3 out of the Vette so they can cut down on the production costs associated with producing multiple variants of the LS(x) motor.
I know that thier will be a volume V6, which is also a big deal to me (i wont be buying one), but I understand that it will be a volume car and will need to be a good motor with similar mileage to the mustang. My bet goes on 3.9 liter sohc producing somewhere between 275-300 hp.
As for the 5.3, i could care less. Give us the V6 and the LS3, and then pop in a blown motor or an LS7 in the next year model and i will be just happy with my LS3. Call it a Z, call it an SS...I DONT CARE, just call it a Camaro, and I will call it MINE.

I can completley agree with this.
